SSS Department Trivia
Week 3 of Round 3 - Who am I?
WHO AM I? "Growing up, I spent many summers at the race track. In fact, I named my first born after a race horse."
The answer is Deslynn Mecham!
Loretta got it right!
Scoreboard
Loretta - 1
Pam - 1
Jesse - 1
Bev - 1
Here is what Deslynn has to say about this story:
When I was a teenager I spent many summers at the race track with my dad. On race day, I would run down to the local coffee shop and pick up the racing forms. We would go over all the statistics and make a plan for who we were betting on. Eventually, my dad started claiming horses and soon became one of the top winning owners at Les Bois Park in Boise. Horse Racing season was always a highlight of his year.
When my husband and I told my dad we were going to have a baby he piped right up, “If it’s a boy you will name him after my winning horse, Woody Willow and if it’s a girl you will name her Flapship Miss. Otherwise, you’ll be disinherited.”
Thankfully, it was boy and Woody (Woodman Erin) was a name we could live with. It is not lost on us that this young man is also the spitting image of my dad, red hair and all. Although, he is not fast like a race horse. Ha!
In the picture, my dad is closest to the horse on the far right, in a cream shirt. Those of you that know my sister, Corrie, she is right behind him, kitty corner.
