Plano ISD Facilities and Technology Study Task Force Seeks Parent and Community Feedback

Dear Parents,

The Facilities and Technology Study Task Force, assembled by the Plano ISD Board of Trustees in August, is hosting a public hearing to gather community input as they evaluate district needs with regard to a possible bond initiative. I encourage our parent community to attend this public forum, as this will be your opportunity to provide feedback or ask questions related to the committee’s work of reviewing enrollment trends and projections, as well as establishing construction, renovation and technology needs. The hearing will be hosted as follows:

Facilities and Technology Study Task Force Public Hearing
Thursday, December 17, 2015, 6:00 p.m.
Plano Senior High School Doyle Dean Performing Arts Center
2200 Independence Pkwy, Plano, TX 75075

Speaker cards will be required from all who wish to speak at the hearing and will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. through the end of the meeting.

Additional opportunities for input are available at the regular school board meetings scheduled for January 12 and February 2, 2016, and via district e-mail at askpisd@pisd.edu. 1st Year E-News

By Alexander Gonzalez

The first years have been getting back into the groove of working on their project, A League of Our Own, getting used to the groups they picked based on an anonymous draft, and also by learning Need to Knows about the project. Based on previous evaluations, top ranked groups were the first to pick the country that they will represent in the final competition in February. The competition itself is one where teams must build a device that launches a tennis ball down a football field. The team with the most points wins. The first years are eager to see how this project turns out!

4th Year E-News

By Rachel Varnell

Hardworking learners are finishing up their plans for the construction of a new multi-use space to occupy the current Collin Creek Mall area, as it is undergoing foreclosure. Each group is tasked with making a small model that will be presented at City Hall on January 19th. Lighter amounts of seminars towards the end of the project allow learners time to work on individual and group deliverables, and efforts finally coming together. Parents may be invited on January 19th at the City Hall to come and ask questions about the development of the Collin Creek area we’ve proposed. Unfortunately, it is currently uncertain whether or not parents will be able to attend these presentations, but we are hopeful. So learners, good luck with the end of your project!
