LENEXA, OLATHE & TOPEKA STAKES
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 7, 2015
OUR PURPOSE
Our purpose is to help youth and young adults understand and rely on the teachings and Atonement of Jesus Christ, qualify for the blessings of the temple, and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in Heaven.
HAVE YOU COMPLETED THE NEW TEACHER TRAINING?
SCRIPTURE MASTERY DIET TIP
As you work through the diet, look for better ways to do the activities or experiment with your own. Keep in mind that the diet is based on the following research:
1. Students do better finding the passages when they can link the main idea or key words with the reference (book and chapter).
2. A larger percentage of students do better with scripture mastery when they link the main idea to the book and chapter and not the verse numbers.
3. Students do better with scripture mastery when they work on it daily for short periods (about 5 minutes) instead of devoting a class period once a week.
4. Students feel better about their experience with scripture mastery when they do not have to compete against each other during the activities.
Let me know if you need help.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“The rising generation needs that deep learning because the world they will face will be both great and terrible—there will be increased light and power from heaven, and there will be even more terrible wickedness and turmoil and confusion. They will need to be grounded in the plain and simple truths of the gospel, the gospel will need to be deep in their hearts, and they will need what President Russell M. Nelson has called resilient faith in Christ”
Elder Kim B. Clark of the Seventy, Encircled About with Fire
