The Rebel Crier

November 18, 2022

Giving Thanks

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, we want to thank everyone who makes New Fairfield High School a great place to learn and work, especially those that don't get the spotlight every day because they aren't necessarily seen by the students: our secretaries, custodians and maintenance staff. These members of our community do the work of making sure our school works.

We hope every member of our community takes a moment to give thanks for someone who has supported them in their lives. We also hope that everyone gets to have some time to rejuvenate, relax and refresh over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The next Rebel Crier will be published on December 2nd.

OPENING NIGHT! "The Hope and Heartache Diner"

Come see the NFHS Rebel Player's production of Lindsay Price's "The Hope and Heartache Diner", directed by NFHS senior Grace Kersting!

Diners are a special place. You can get your coffee, fall in love, and find light when the world is dark. Duke’s is a family business - four generations strong. Felix wants one last hurrah before leaving for college. She’s doing the full run - open to close - just like her grandpa did when he was a teenager. But why? Everyone knows Felix can barely wipe tables. Why is she trying so hard to connect? And what will the fate of the diner be?

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18 and SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19 at 7pm! Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for students and seniors.

School Counseling Update

Seniors: College On Site Admissions are happening in early December! Naugatuck Community College, Western Connecticut State University & Iona University will be visiting NFHS to meet with applicants, review applications and give answers right away to students if they are accepted. NVCC is open enrollment, so this meeting would be more of a registration process and for students to learn how they can go to community college tuition free! More information and signups are in the Class of 2023 College & Career Planning google classroom.

PSAT Results will be available December 5th - 8th for all 9th, 10th & 11th grade students who took the test in October.. Students will be able to view their scores in their College Board account (collegeboard.org). Counselors will be connecting with students throughout the month of December to discuss the PSAT score report and results.

NF Food Pantry Donation Drive

Student Council is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the New Fairfield Food Pantry as we move into the holiday season. The drive will run through Monday Nov. 21. The Class of 2026 is in the lead, and we'd love for the other classes to catch up on Monday for a great cause!

The attached flyer shows what the pantry can take, can't take and what they are in need of most at this time. Please take a look and consider bringing in a donation or two to help those in our town in need.

DECA Is Back and Better Than Ever!

Recently our DECA team has been back at it again, off to a hot start!

Like always, DECA has successfully completed Pumpkin gram, Football tailgates and the powderpuff game fundraisers. DECA produced 8 posters for New Fairfield School Spirit Week and Homecoming. New shipments of clothing were delivered recently and DECA looks forward to opening a new online system to order clothes.

The store team is pushing the envelope to expand the store's shopper base by including clothing
sales at football games, election day and the fall festival which have been a huge success. The club has inducted 35+ new members who are eager and ready to participate in upcoming events. This brings DECA’s total to 55 members. Some of these events include Mr.Rebel which is a school wide male beauty pageant that finds which student would be recognized as “Mr.Rebel”. One final event is the fashion show which is another school wide event where students are able to showcase their brands of clothing while doing a dance or walk. DECA competition preparation is also underway, students will be deciding on which competition they will enter very soon! Thank you for reading our DECA newsletter!
