Indoor Color Guard
Congratulations to our CB Indoor Guard for earning a Superior Rating at their most recent competition. The CB Indoor Guard is comprised of members from all three high school marching bands working together as one performing ensemble. Before the shut down last March, the group was moved up to a more competitive competition class because of their continued success! This year, the indoor guard is still working although their competitions are now virtual each weekend. A Superior Rating is the highest rating that can be earned at the virtual competition, and was only earned by three groups including Central Bucks in the entire competition! Best of luck to the Indoor Guard as they continue on their season!
CB South's March Boomerang Winner!
Congratulations to Sana Mahmud- the CB South Boomerang Award winner for March, for the asset of “Responsibility”- Sana has taken on the responsibility to better our school community and create a place of understanding and inclusion for all staff, students, and families.

PSAT 10 for SOPHOMORES
Due soon!!! CB South will be offering the PSAT 10 to our 10th grade students on Saturday, April 24th. This test gives students the opportunity to take a test comparable to the SAT as a practice test. The PSAT 10 is a great way to practice for the PSAT/NMSQT in 11th grade, which qualifies them for the National Merit Scholarship Program. We recommend that students plan on taking the SAT and/or ACT for the first time during the spring of their Junior Year.
Payment/Registration: If your student is interested in participating in the PSAT 10, registration begins March 21st and closes April 12, 2021. Registration is done simply by paying the $30 fee in My Payments Plus- there is no additional registration form.
Test Date/Time: On test day (Saturday April 24th), students should plan to arrive no later than 7:40 AM and we expect the test to be completed no later than 11:30 AM. Students are expected to bring their own #2 pencils, calculator, and masks will be required along with social distancing.
If you have any questions, please contact Sophomore House Counselors Mr. Hill- students A-K (thill@cbsd.org) or Mrs. McGroggan- students L-Z (mmcgroggan@cbsd.org), or Mrs. Barrett- test facilitator (tbarrett@cbsd.org).

Balfour has been selected as the official supplier for caps and gowns/regalia and graduation announcements for 2021. SCHOLARSHIPS IN NAVIANCE
This is HIGH SEASON and at this point, seniors should be checking the Scholarship List under “colleges” in Naviance on a weekly basis, if not more. The list is also posted outside the Senior House Office. Seniors should drop off or email their resume/activities list to their counselor as well for additional consideration.
Many of the posts are LOCAL scholarships, meaning the scholarships are looking for candidates in our school, district, or region and the candidate pool will be relatively small.
SUCCESS PLAN 12- Required tasks for graduation
All CBSD students must complete a series of tasks, mainly housed in Naviance, to earn the required .25 Success Plan credit towards graduation. Students who have not yet completed the Success Plan tasks should refer to instructions on the Success Plan Website or contact Dr. Lash at kalash@cbsd.org with questions. The Senior Survey portion may be completed at a later date since admissions decisions and final matriculation decisions may not be made until later this spring.
FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION FOR COLLEGE
Seniors and their families are encouraged to utilize the resources on the Financial Aid Page of the Guidance Website for information regarding the financial aid process and FAFSA.
A Message From CB South's Titans for Inclusion and Equity Club
This Week's Highlight:
Women’s History Month Spotlight: Ann Meyers
In celebration of Women’s History Month and in spirit with the NCAA’s current March Madness tournaments, we are spotlighting the accomplishments of Ann Meyers, an extremely influential athlete who broke barriers for women in the world of basketball. Following the passing of Title IX—a law requiring equal opportunity under any education program or activity regardless of gender—Ann became the first female to ever receive a four-year athletic scholarship to a university when she committed to the University of California, Los Angeles. While at UCLA, Ann also became the first four-time All-American women’s basketball player and led the Bruins to an AIAW national championship. Additionally, she achieved the first ever quadruple-double (for either women or men) in NCAA history. Ann won three gold medals for USA Basketball during her amateur career and was the first woman to carry the flag for the United States during the Pan Am Games. She is most well-known for receiving a tryout with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and would go on to serve as one of the first female color analysts in the NBA, calling Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury games to this day.
Congratulations To CB South's Science Olympiad For Advancing To The State Level Competition!
CB South Athletics
Girl's Track and Field
The CB South Titans competed away at CB East where the ladies had their first opportunity to compete during the spring season. The Titans lost 55-94 as a team but some individuals started the season very strong. Hitting district qualifying standards included Julia Pye in the 800 and Felicia Oh in the 100m hurdles. Up next on the schedule is Souderton hosting a dual meet on Tuesday April 6th with the knights invite hosted by North Penn on April 10th.
Boys' Track and Field
The Titans Track and Field team finally got back to the Spring outdoor competition since 2 years ago, and turned out some awesome performances. While suffering a tough loss to neighboring CB East, these were top performers for the Titan men: 10th grader Ethan Cunningham winning the 200 and Long Jump, 2nd in the 100, and part of the winning 4x1 Relay along with Bradford Berger (who placed in Long Jump and the 100), Colin Chan, and Collin Hartranft. Senior Tommy Wood winning both the Shot Put and Discus. 1st place finishes by Andrew Schaefer in the 3200 and Nic Stoughton in the Javelin. But top performer of the day goes to Aidan Carey in the High Jump with a District qualifying jump of 6ft and 2inches!!! The Titans continue through their training over the next several days to get ready to travel to Souderton on Tuesday April 6th. Great job everyone!
Unified Track and Field
The Unified Track team is off to a great start. So far the team has been practicing in order to prepare for the first meet on April 20th at CB South. The athletes participate in multiple events during a meet, picking 1 track event, 1 field event, and some will participate in relays. The track events are the- 100m, 400m, or 800m run. The field events are long jump, mini-javelin, or shot-put. There are 2 relay races for Unified Track- 4x100m and the 4x400m. The athletes are working hard and are excited for the first meet!
Boys' Volleyball
The Titans volleyball team has gotten off to a tough start with losses to CB East, LaSalle and Pennridge in the first week of competition. Due to graduations last year and a missed season, the team has all new staters at all position, so a slow start was expected. The team is hard at work each day improving their skills and growing as a team, so it is just a matter of time until the team puts it all together. After the break, the Titans have matches at CB West and then finish the week at home against North Penn and Abington.
Baseball
CB South Baseball picked up a win on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Hatboro-Horsham by the score of 7-6. JT Anderosky, Colin Mitchell, and Matt Boyce provided offense for the Titans, knocking in two runs apiece on doubles. Josh Yang added an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Noah Collier recorded the win on the mound and Robby Porco picked up his first save of the season by retiring the Hatters in order to close out a thrilling come from behind win.
Softball
The softball team opened its season on Tuesday, March 30, with a loss at home vs. Plymouth Whitemarsh by a score of 9-3.
Senior Tri-Captain Nicole Pilla, a four-year Varsity player and lone remaining member from the 2018 District One 6A championship team, had 2 hits, including a double, to pace the offense. Junior Grace Motley and sophomore Marlena Hacker each had a double. Ten different players made their Varsity debuts for the Titans.
The JV team opened its season with a 14-6 win vs. Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Titan Softball schedule after the holiday break:
* Wednesday, April 7: vs. Souderton - SOL Colonial League opener (3:45)
* Friday, April 9: at Central Bucks West (3:45) - JV game at CB West will be played Thursday, April 8 (3:45)
CB South Ice Hockey
On Friday night the Titans won a hard-fought game 2-0 against Neshaminy clinching 1st place in their division 2nd overall in league and earning a first-round bye in the SHSHL Playoffs.
The Titans played Council Rock South Wednesday evening in the semi-finals and led 1-0 until just under two minutes left in the game where CR South tied it up. The game ended up in overtime with The Titans falling 1-2.
The Flyers Cup selections took place this past weekend and our Titans earned the sixth seed in a field of 16 teams. The first game of the one game elimination tournament will take place Tuesday April 6th vs OJ Roberts in Hatfield at 8:10 PM. Spectators will be limited to the set rink capacity.
