Principal's message - week 38
Greetings North Plains Families!
Our Spring Showcase is happening May 24 at 6PM and will be a little different this year. We will still feature all of our students in musical performances, and this year, students participating in the Science Fair will have their projects on display in the library. Projects will be judged prior to the evening event and winners will be announced within the musical performance. All students are encouraged to participate. Projects will be completed outside of school hours, but there will be two after school workshops, May 7 and 14 where students can get some support. Project boards are available for those who need them. Please click the following link to get all of the information for this fun opportunity! https://tinyurl.com/npes-sciencefair18docs
Teacher (staff) appreciation week is coming up the week of May 7! Our amazing PTO is planning some really nice things for us and would appreciate some help. Please click on the following link to sign up to volunteer! https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/9040B4CACA92AA64-teacher1
Also the week of May 7, we are having a spring canned food drive! Please bring your non-perishable donations to "Help Mom's Feed Their Kids!" (Sponsored by our own Ms. Bottema!)
The weather has finally turned for the better and this weekend is the field clean up! Although this is short notice, anyone who would like to help is welcome to join Glencoe Youth Baseball at 10AM. Wheel barrows, rakes, shovels, and a trailer to haul things away are all things needed for this project.
If you can't make the morning, Hillsboro Soccer Club will begin at 4PM filling gopher holes in the field to prepare it for seeding later in the spring. The same supplies are needed: Wheel barrows, rakes, etc...
If you are available to help, or if you have questions, please email Kevin Zuercher at mailto:kzerker@gmail.com
The annual North Plains garage sale is happening on May 5 and our 5th grade parents are using this as a fundraiser for the Washington, D.C. trip! You may bring donated items to the school on Thursday April 26, or May 3 between 6 and 7. They really need your help! The day of the sale there will be water, pita bread and hummus, and veggies for sale. Come support your graduating class of 2025 as they fund raise for this amazing trip to D.C.!
A couple brief reminders: If you come in the building and intend to go past the office, you need to sign in and get a visitors pass. On that same note, all non-staff need to enter through the front door so we know you are here. At times parents enter through a side door as kids are exiting the building, and that does not align with our safety protocols. Please help us keep everyone safe, and sign in when you enter and leave the building.
We are still in need of a parent to come in and organize our "clothes closet" We have a lot of items and they need sorted and categorized so we can use what we have. Thank you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Becky
