Kindness Matters
Since before Thanksgiving, we have seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the district. We understand that continuing to navigate COVID-19 as a family is an enormous challenge.
Our school nurses and school administrators have been on the receiving end of many difficult phone calls and emails in recent weeks from families who are upset with the COVID-19 protocols and procedures. Please know that the protocols followed have been set by DESE and DPH and not from the school districts. Our nurses and administrators are doing their best to keep everyone informed and safe in school. We appreciate your kindness, patience, and cooperation as we work together to navigate through this pandemic. Please know that our collective efforts are designed to ensure that students, staff, and families remain safe and healthy.

Roderick Music Update
The students' efforts and dedication are paying off in huge ways in both band and chorus as we have been preparing for our concert. Unfortunately, with the rise in COVID numbers and student absences, it seems like the safest idea is to postpone the concert until sometime in the spring. As of right now, we are setting a hopeful eye towards March, but we will definitely keep you in the loop as much as we can between now and then. We would love to give a heartfelt thank you to every young musician and family member who has put time and effort into this program.
Counselor's Corner
January’s word of the month continues to be Friendship. During this stage in our students' lives, friendships gain greater significance and will become a major part of a child’s self-esteem.
What is it? Friendship is mutual affection between people, showing mutual trust and support
Why is it important? Friends help us deal with stress and make better lifestyle choices that keep us strong. Friends can make it easier to cope through hard times. Your friendships encourage healthy behaviors that have a direct impact on your well-being.
What does it look like? True friends allow you to be who you are and make you feel comfortable with yourself. Friendships are reciprocal and are built on shared interests.
Bucko has been enjoying his time at Roderick thus far. He’s been a part of classroom lessons, individual check-ins, small groups, recess, and assemblies. The students seem to love him! And he’s on Instagram! Please use the QR code below to follow. If you would not like your child to have pictures taken and/or posted please email Ms. Lazzaro at lazzaros@wrenthamschools.org.
Friendly Reminders
1. Health and PE classes will switch during the week of January 24th. Please remind your child to dress in appropriate attire for physical education days.
2. A friendly reminder to please notify the Roderick Office before 1:00 p.m. for dismissal changes unless there is an emergency.
WPS Food Service Notice
The Plainville/Wrentham/Norfolk elementary school nutrition department currently has openings for food service workers and substitutes. Enjoy a school calendar schedule, be home when your children are home, and have some adult interaction while they are at school. Fun and fast paced work for just a few hours a day. Consider being part of our team! Please contact Shelly Bernadini bernardinis@wrenthamschools.org if you are interested in a position.
