In April's edition, we want to share some resources to help prepare your students with practice online assessments and tips so that they are confidently ready for the MAAP assessments.


We've also provided you with activities and resources in honor of National Poetry Month. If you need CEUs, we have that covered too!!

Digital MAAP Test Prep Resources

April is National Poetry Month

A quick and easy poetry lesson:

Watch the video as a class:

1. Discuss: what do we notice? About her language? Her gestures? Her emotion.

2. Brainstorm: have students make a list of topics they're passionate about & note feelings & associations with each.

3. Write: Time to write a poem.

4. Perform: Enjoy a vibrant classroom poetry slam.

For the MAAP Test:

1. Click here to choose a writing prompt for your students.


2. Click here for the MDE ELA Writing Rubric.


3. After students write their essays, have them upload their essays with the rubric to the Paper Essay Review Center.


4. After they get their feedback, have them revise the essays using suggestions from their tutors and upload the essay to the RC again. Encourage them to attach the original comments from the first tutor's review so the second tutor can compare and contrast.


For AP Writing Exams:

  • Daily Warm-Up: Before beginning your math lesson, have students complete 2-5 questions each day to review key math concepts.

  • Bell Ringer: As soon as students enter your room, have them complete as many missions as they can in a given amount of time.

  • Centers: Select 5-10 math missions for your students to complete. If they need help, tell them to hop on with a Paper Tutor.

  • Study Guides: Assign math missions and encourage students and parents to use Paperโ€™s subject matter experts.

  • Homework: Select math missions for students to complete at home with a Paper tutor

  • Substitute Teacher: While you're out, assign students Paper Math Missions to continue preparing them for the upcoming MAAP assessments.
