Scholastic Book Fair is Here!

Mrs. Entwistle, our school Media Specialist and CRT would like to thank all of our Dublin students and families for a successful book fair the week of December 7th-11th. Together we had over $10,000 in sales. The Dublin Media Center will be receiving a portion of this profit for the Media Program at Dublin. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped to set up, cleaned up, and spent time working at our book fair. We appreciate all of your support.

Spring STRIDE and Girls on the Run Registration

Girls on the Run® and Stride are non-profit programs that encourage pre-teen girls and boys to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. These programs aren't just about finishing a race. They're about developing a lifetime of healthy habits and healthy living. Every participant learns valuable life lessons that include:
  • nutrition and fitness
  • goal setting
  • communication skills
  • making a difference
  • working as a team
  • character development

Girls on the Run is for 3rd through 5th grade girls. STRIDE is for 3rd through 5th grade boys. There is no need to have any previous running experience and kids don't even have to consider themselves athletic to participate. The great thing about running is that anyone can do it! You don't need lots of money or time to get in shape and learn a new skill. Come join the fun and experience the positive rewards of finishing a race and stepping across the finish line!

The Girls on the Run program will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:15 PM, and Stride will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:15 PM. Both programs will start the week of March 14th and will run through May 19th.

Registration for Girls on the Run and Stride are handled through Carl's YMCA in Milford. Please click HERE to register. We continue to look for coaches. If you are a Dublin parent that would like to coach either group, please let Mr. Drewno know as soon as possible.

Student Council Hat Day and Canned Food Drive

Our Dublin Student Council is sponsoring a student and staff Hat Day on Friday, January 8th. If students or staff members choose to wear a hat at school on this day, they must bring in a canned food item or non-perishable boxed food item to donate to Gleaner's Food Bank. Our fifth graders will be visiting Gleaners and will deliver these items. Thank you for planning ahead for this fun day and supporting Gleaners!

Dublin's Annual Winter Sing-Along and Holiday Celebrations

Our annual Dublin Winter Sing-Along will take place on Tuesday, December 22nd at 2:30 PM. We will meet in the cafeteria and sing songs together with our Dublin Glee Club. Classroom celebrations will follow the Sing-Along. We will have limited seating for adults because we have close to 600 students to seat on our floor. Thank you for understanding. Parking will take place in our parking lot and on the blacktop behind our building. Please do not park on the side of the road or in nearby neighborhoods. Do not park in front of a mailbox or driveway. The White Lake Police Department will be ticketing and towing these cars. Thank you for helping to create a safe and smooth final day at school before vacation.

Winter Vacation

There will be no school starting Wednesday, December 23rd through Sunday, January 3rd. School will resume on Monday, January 4th, 2016.

Talent Show 2016 Information

Plans are underway for our annual Dublin PTA Talent Show.

The 2016 Dublin Talent show will be held on March 17th, 2016 at NORTHERN HIGH SCHOOL from 6:30 – 9pm.

This year’s show is going to be a wonderful experience for our Dublin students. Check your calendars to make sure that your child(ren) will be able to attend and have them get started on their act.

LEGO Club Updates

The final sessions of LEGO Club will take place on Monday, January 4th and Wednesday, January 6th after the holiday/break. There will be a special LEGO Club Celebration for students and their parents on Monday, January 11th from 4:00-6:00 PM.

Fifth Grade School Spelling Bee

Good luck goes out to our fifth graders as they prepare for our annual fifth grade school spelling bee. Finalists from each class will take part in our school spelling bee on Wednesday, December 16th at 10:00 AM. The winner of our school spelling bee will take part in the Oakland County Spelling Bee in February. Good luck fifth grade spelling finalists.

Schools of Choice and Transfer Information

Below are the application dates for internal transfer requests and external schools of choice requests for the 2016-17 school year. Applications will be posted on the district website right after winter break in early January when we return. It is imperative that people apply within these application windows.

· Transfer Requests (resident students requesting a different school than their neighborhood school): January 4th – 22nd

· Schools of Choice (non-resident students within Oakland county requesting admittance to Walled Lake Schools): January 11th – 29th.
