PHS Update

November 26th, 2018

We're Back!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving Week! There are four weeks left of the first semester and then it's Holiday Time again. This will be a short update but I will we sending out a longer parent update Monday afternoon, so please send any specific news you have by noon on Monday.

Booster meeting on Monday evening as they kick of the Crab Feed, and Staff meeting on Wednesday in library. I have included dates through the first week of January - if you see something missing, let me know.

I worked with American Express on eliminating fees for gift cards. They will convert our GoFundMe $ into gift cards for free! Then Kelly can deliver to Paradise High. (Did you hear about the awesome $1 million donation to Paradise High? Wow!)

See you all soon. Have a great week!

Museum Management Does San Diego

The Museum Management class escaped the smoky air last week, enjoying an airlift to San Diego. There were trips to the Safari Park and the San Diego Zoo. Among other activities, the students met with Dr. Patrick Morris, Head of Veterinary Medicine at the SD Zoo Herpetology Department and went on a special 2 &1/2 hour open-top jeep "Caravan Tour" of the Safari Park.

More from Mr. Tacata to come.

Leoni Recognized by American Chemical Society

Paul Leoni submitted a piece of illustrated chemistry poetry to the American Chemical Society. His submission was selected as the high school winner for the California Section! Below is the letter of congratulations:

Dear Paul,

On behalf of the California Section, I want to congratulate you on your winning entry in the 2018 National Chemistry Week Illustrated Poem Contest (grade 9 - 12 category). We submitted your entry to the national ACS contest. Although it did not win at the national level, we are delighted to recognize your work with a gift certificate from Educational Innovations. A gift for Lee Boyes (your chemistry teacher) will arrive shortly as well.

Keep up the good work, and enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Best regards,

Alex Madonik
