As part of Disability Awareness Month we invite family members to read a book and lead a discussion in our classrooms. Below is a sign up sheet that teachers have indicated a day and time for the reading to occur. Family members would choose a book from an Epic book list and then Zoom into the classroom for the activity.
Here is the sign up sheet: https://signup.com/go/FXQdbHz
Once you have signed up either Gaby Zadra or Sheila Iverson will reach out with more information.
NO Testing Monday, October 4th
Dear CCUSD Families:
In light of the continuing problems with both registration and the actual COVID testing from our current provider, we have made the decision to stop their service as of this week. Friday 10/1 will be the last day using this system. After we finish everything with them, we will ensure that they delete all information about our staff and students.
We have a new provider lined up and ready to go, with the expectation that both registration and the testing logistics (including saliva tests instead of nasal swabs) will be much improved. We are preparing detailed instructions for the registration process to share with everyone ahead of launch this time; that should be coming by early next week. Weekly testing will begin after that as everyone gets registered. This provider does follow the same billing procedure, so you will have to resubmit insurance information but again, you will never be billed for any costs. If insurance does not cover the test, the provider will bill the federal grant program.
The “Qualtrics” vaccination status survey is separate from all this; please submit that information if you have not already done so. If you have already submitted your vaccine card through the Qualtrics system but get a reminder email, you can ignore that reminder - it takes time to manually verify each submission, at which time you will not get the reminder anymore.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
CCUSD
I already uploaded my / my child’s vaccination card. Why did I still get a reminder email?
You can ignore the reminder email. Each submission must be manually verified by a limited number of approved health services/human resources staff. As soon as your vaccination status is cleared, you will not receive the reminder again.
Why are we switching testing providers? Two reasons: the registration process and the actual COVID testing program at each site. Even if you were able to get your child registered for testing, the providers did not bring enough staffing to test all students and staff in the time allotted. The new testing provider has a proven track record of testing students and staff at a greater capacity.
What will happen to the information we already gave to the testing provider?
UDL will delete all information associated with CCUSD.
What will the registration process look like with the new provider?
CCUSD is working with the provider to ensure a smoother process and will send out detailed instructions the week of October 4th. As before, the company will ask for insurance information but you will not be billed for testing. The provider works with insurance companies and the Federal Grant Program for individuals whose insurance does not cover its costs. They will never charge CCUSD or individual families.

4th-5th Grade Instrumental Music Information Night Wednesday, October 6th
Elementary Vocal Music Update
TK/K/1/2 Vocal Music
Vocal music at Lin Howe has started off wonderfully this year! If your student is in TK, Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade, they have weekly (TK/Kinder) or every-other-week (1st and 2nd grade) vocal music with Ms. Koplinka-Loehr on Thursdays at Lin Howe. We have been having so much fun singing, dancing, and moving to music together!
If you are in TK or Kindergarten, please ask your student for their "Ask Me" sheet that was handed out to them in music class last week, and ask them to sing "Hickety Pickety Bumblebee" and "Oh My, No More Pie" for you! You can also ask them to sing "Hop, Ol' Squirrel," and ask them to change the way the squirrel moves in the song!
If your student is in 1st grade, please ask your student to sing "Up Above My Head," and "Circle Round the Zero" for you (and encourage them to do the dance with you, as well!)
If your student is in 2nd grade, please ask them to sing "Up Above My Head," and "Penny You Must Wander," (and they can play the penny passing game with you, as well!)
Please also check your student's vocal music Seesaw account, where optional singing activities and games have been posted for you to practice and respond to if you would like to participate. If you have any questions about the vocal music program, feel free to reach out directly to Ms. Koplinka-Loehr at:
Danielle Koplinka-Loehr: daniellekoplinkaloehr@ccusd.org
We hope you are having fun listening to your students' wonderful singing voices!

SIP for our Schools, Culver City Education Foundation's virtual fundraising event on October 16, 2021
Still time to SIP with CCEF!
A limited supply of tasting kits are still available for Culver City Education Foundation’s SIP for our Schools virtual fundraising event on October 16! Tickets include a specially-curated whiskey tasting live streamed to your home, a silent auction, and surprise guests!
While this year's event remains virtual, guests are welcome to join us in-person at the Wende Museum that day for a little socializing and a sneak peak of the fun to come that evening. Pick up your tasting kit between 11am-2pm on the 16th and enjoy live music by CCHS students, preview the incredible artwork for auction, and participate in a group art mural. The museum will be open for CCEF guests to tour the exhibitions with their staff. We can't wait to see you there!
