Rose Lane Principal Letter...
We are having a terrific February and are so excited to have had the following events at Madison Rose Lane!
Our Boosterthon Virtual Dance Party was hugely successful and we appreciate your support very much. The kids had a blast, and the teachers did a great job of promoting participation for our fundraiser. Thank you, Mrs. Carll, for organizing all aspects of the Dance Party - including the distribution of prizes which began last week and will continue after we return to in-person instruction, For kids attending on campus, any prizes earned will go home with students. For kids attending at-home, please look for more info about picking prizes up at school. Thank you, TEAM, for all that you do to support Rose Lane, and to our parents community for your outstanding generosity. Because of you, we raised more than $24,000 in school profit!
Our two picture days with Lifetouch went very well. We were so glad to see more than 300 of our families take advantage of this opportunity to capture precious pictures of their children during this historic and memorable year!
We are looking forward to a virtual assembly this Tuesday, featuring Erin Dealey. Ms. Dealey is the author of Goldilocks Has Chicken Pox, and a wonderful book entitled Dear Earth. We are very grateful to Mrs. Buseman for organizing this terrific author visit, which has been funded through your annual student activity fee.
Parents of students who are coming to school in person: please be sure to review Rose Lane's Mitigation Plan for School Reopening. I sent this in Class Dojo recently, and here is the link once again. https://www.madisonaz.org/Page/382 .
Also, MSD will be the first district in the state to do batch testing for COVID19. Please look for information on Class Dojo related to this, which will also show you how you can sign your child up for participation.
Finally, Mr. Reyes has been working with MSD's research and evaluation department, planning not only our state testing for 3rd and 4th graders but end-of-year MAP testing as well. We will send more information about this towards the end of the quarter.
Please stay safe and healthy, and know how much we appreciate your support of our teachers and staff!
Best Regards,
Rose Devine, M.Ed

Cafeteria News...
We will welcome back most of our students on February 22, 2021. We will be serving breakfast from 7:15-7:40am. There will be a breakfast cart near the Preschool gate and also breakfast pickup from the cafeteria, which will be eaten outside of the classrooms.
It has been our pleasure serving Distance Learning students during this past quarter. We are now requesting that those students still needing those meals and meal bundles visit Meadows, Simis, Camelview, Park and Madison No. 1.
We are still offering the “Birthday in a Box” program. Click on this link for more information and to fill out an order https://www.madisonaz.org/Page/270
A Lunch Lady's Poem
Once I was the smiling face greeting you as you found your place.
Now I smile with my eyes as I give you your space
As I try through my mask to ease your concern and help you feel safe.
I look into your eyes as you rush on by.
You have something to share but you can’t stay and chat.
My eyes try to say as you’re walking away
I still care and would have loved to hear all about that.
Yes, I know it’s not fair
Growing up in a time when we can’t share the air.
This thing, it won’t last.
It will fade to the past.
That’s my hope and my prayer while we’re wearing our masks.
I miss the old days when you came bopping in,
Because you did something funny, I could tell by your grin.
You didn’t have to walk with your face to the floor
Counting six steps and stopping at the sticker by the door.
Yes, I miss those old days when you came in to chat
You had something to say about this, about that.
I gave you my ear
Sometimes softened your fear
About the tests and exams at the end of the year.
Now, we say a hello through a mask.
Our words become muffled but there’s no time to ask.
So I’ll say with my eyes what comes from my heart.
Thank you for doing your part.
You are cherished and love every day in this place,
And I thank you again for keeping us safe.
I hope soon we will be free of this task but,
Meanwhile we appreciate you for respectfully wearing your mask.
Theater Class News...
The past few weeks we have been reading fairy tale readers theater plays such as The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Gingerbread Man. The students have been working on reading dialog with expression as well as practicing fluency. Throughout reading these plays we have discussed setting and background, tone of voice, and we created Three Little Pigs puppets!

Dance Class News...
We loved our modern jazz unit in dance class! Students are practicing pop and lock and other styles of hip hop dancing in our current unit. We have continued to ensure safety standards, including different ways to stretch.

PE Class News...
Hello From PE! As we transition to our next phase of learning here are a few things to think about when it comes to PE class. For my in-person PE kids, it's important that you have a mask that stays in place when you are moving around. You are encouraged to bring a water bottle to PE class as well. For my online PE kids, please start looking around your house for items you might use in PE. Some examples are a ball, sock ball or tin foil ball, empty plastic cups, a broom and a spoon. Get creative on what you can repurpose for our PE classes. Whether it's online or in person, I can't wait to see you soon Rockets!
