Classifications Announced for 2022-2023 and 2023-2024


On Tuesday, the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) announced Fall sport classification information for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Winter sport classification information will be announced in March 2022 and Spring sport classification information will be released in May 2022.

Wrestling Wins Auburn Event


Hewitt-Trussville Wrestling finished in 1st place out of 27 teams this weekend at the Swede Umbach Invitational in Auburn. The Huskies finished the event with 192 team points which was 9.5 points ahead of second-place Lee County HS. Logan Reaves, Hunter Jones, and Chris Hawkins all took home first place honors in their respective weight classes.

The Huskies will travel to Jefferson, GA for an event next weekend.

Bowling Sweeps Gadsden City


Hewitt-Trussville Bowling went on the road to defeat Gadsden City on Monday. The HT Boys won 4-0. Eko Burroughs, Brodie Payne, and Tristan Atwood led the team with a 88% mark rate.


The HT Girls won 4-1. Emily Onofry had a mark rate of 60% and Jia Jones had a mark rate of 50%.


The Huskies will host Gadsden City on Tuesday.

Finkley and Kelly Lift Team Alabama to Victory


Justice Finkley and Omari Kelly represented Hewitt-Trussville Football on Saturday as they competed in the 2021 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic. The Alabama All-Stars won the game 20-0. Alabama now has a 24-11 edge in the series history.

Justice Finkley was dominant on defense as he recorded three tackles and a sack. Wide Receiver Omari Kelly hauled in two passes for 28 yards.

Finkley and Kelly helped the Huskies to a 9-3 overall record in 2021 and an appearance in the 7A State Quarterfinals.

Both players will participate in the football signing ceremony on Wednesday December 15.

HTHS Senior Harrison Asbury will represent the Huskies on Friday December 17 in the 2021 AHSAA North-South All-Star Game. The game will be held on the campus of the University of South Alabama.

HTMS Basketball Recap


This week the 8th Grade Basketball team defeated Thompson 54-26 before dropping a game to Simmons.


The 7th Grade Girls team dropped a contest to Thompson, then rebounded to defeat Simmons 30-29.


The 7th Grade Boys also defeated Simmons 43-39. Dalton Black led the team with 12 points. Riley O'Neal and Luke Stodghill had eight points each.

HTMS Girls Bowling Places 2nd at Metro


Hewitt-Trussville Girls Bowling finished as the Metro runner-up this season. At the season ending tournament, the Huskies defeated Simmons 266-265 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, the Huskies beat Berry 287-271.
