TVS IMPLEMENTS NEW PBIS PROGRAM
On January 3, a new Positive, Behavior, Interventions, and Supports (PBIS) program was implemented for students in grades 7-12. Students in 7th and 8th grade will receive a white index card at the beginning of every week. During the week, students will receive punches in their cards for demonstrating the pillars of PBIS (Responsibility, Respect, and Safety). Students who receive 5 or more punches are allowed to participate in PBIS Friday; activities include going to the gym, movies, popcorn, etc.
Students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to receive white cards during every class period for demonstrating the pillars of PBIS. Students turn the cards into the office for a prize drawing at the end of the each week. In addition, teachers are given one red card each week. The Red Card is for a student demonstrating kindness. Red cards are collected during the month. A prize drawing occurs at the end of each month for larger, donated prizes, such as gift cards, tickets to sporting events, and apparel.
Pictured are the students who won prizes for the first white card drawing.
Amanda Beneke Speaks at 2023 Ohio Invention League Kid Inventors' Day
Fifty global, national, and state award-winning inventors had the chance to present their creations to members of the public, including state lawmakers.
Robin Hilsmeier, executive director of the Ohio Invention League, said it's a great way for students to show their problem-solving STEM skills.
“Each of the students self-selected a problem from their community, from their world, and went through the invention process in order to create a prototype, and solve a problem,” said Hilsmeier.
The event also included a panel discussion, in which Amanda Beneke TVS JH science teacher and 2022 Ohio Invention League Teacher of the Year, was asked to participate. "I loved meeting new students and catching up with alumni inventors. What an amazing group of youth inventors!"

COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS
Twin Valley South high school students have earned college credits while still attending high school for many years. In the past, many of the courses had to be taken online or at a nearby college. Now, students are earning more college credits than ever by taking college credit and advanced placement courses in the TVS building.
College classes in English, Math, Science, and other subjects are completed by TVS students each year. Not only do students earn both high school and college credit for the courses but they also learn study habits and strategies for success in college.
Advanced Placement classes are even more rigorous then entry level college classes. Students in the AP courses complete the demanding Advanced Placement curriculum for their class and must pass a demanding test at the end of the year to earn college credit for the class.
Each year, the opportunities for students to engage in high-level coursework to earn college level credits and experiences expand at TVS. Our goal is to prepare our students to reach their goals no matter what their field of interest.
