Cardboard Challenge..
I can hardly wait for this day - it is one of my favorites, but most importantly, it is a favorite of our students! So, here are a few things to think about as you prepare for this day....
1. Seek out volunteers
2. Watch Caine's Arcade video to get the students' brains thinking
3. Have a game plan before going in - as the building time goes by so quickly - plan on a game or two so that all are involved
4. Be sure that students are split into A/B teams - we'll hand out stickers to put on the students - that way some kids aren't left 'manning' their game the entire time.....
5. Prizes can be donated/brought - but again, divide into 2 groups so that there is enough for each group that goes through and plays
6. Talk with them about inviting peers in to play their game - great opportunity for students to practice their speaking skills
Schedule:
8:00-8:15 Attendance - Review of Expectations
8:15-8:30 All classes will collect cardboard - send only 2-3 students from your class to gather the cardboard needed
8:30-9:45. Building - Please put a piece of paper with your classes name on it - in the Cafeteria and Gym area
9:45-10:15 Group A Plays/Group B Runs the game
10:15-10:45 Group B Plays/Group A Runs the game
Be watching the time - help transition at 10:15 - listen for the music - when you hear the music, this indicates that the groups change
10:45-11:00 Clean Up - Teachers return to their classes to meet students - clean up crew will be finishing up
Any student that does not do well, can be brought to the office and we will work to get them back in the fun of things!
Whole school lunch - send kids to the lunchroom to get their sack lunches and take your kids outside to eat - let the kids that are getting their lunches from the cafeteria know where you will be sitting so they can meet up with you there! All staff outside with their students for the lunch period.
11:35 Enter back in the building - prepare for home
Dismissal will be 11:45 - all staff outside to help get students where they need to be!
Lunch for staff 12:00-12:45 on your own - be back at the City Park area to help support walkers in the parade at 12:45. ALL staff is expected to walk unless you have spoken to me prior. Students can bring candy to pass out if they are walkers! Once parade is done and students are gone with their parents - we are to return to the building until 3:40!
Please see Hafey if there are any questions.
If you have a boxcutter or two - please bring on Friday - make sure it has your name on it!
