Tracking Your 6 hrs. of PD and other re-certification information

Message from Don a few weeks ago:
First, we want to thank everyone for their patience, support and feedback as we put together our Professional Development process for the district. Kelly, Sue, Erin and I have been meeting regularly to put together a system that makes sense for all of us. I am hoping that this email provides some additional clarity on what to do now to track your PD this year for both CTA contractual hours and certification renewal. By next year we aim to have an electronic platform in place to house all PD and streamline the process. Make sure you visit the district website: https://sites.google.com/a/coventryschools.net/district/staff-2/plus-certification if there are questions and for updates.

Below are the three parts everyone needs to know:
  1. The Coventry Professional Development Request Form is the same form you used last year to request and document the required 6 hours of Professional Development for the Collective Bargaining Agreement. It is self-explanatory. You only need this form to document the contractual 6 hours of PD.
  2. Principals will use this form to track your PD. It is the educators obligation to complete the 6 hours and provide the form above to document the PD time. The 6 hours must be in by June 1st. Those who do not submit by that date will be docked a day's pay. Principals will notify HR/Payroll of any staff member who does not complete the 6 hours, just like last year.
  3. The Coventry Professional Learning Plan Verification Form is used to track your PLUs for re-certification. You need this as documentation along with any other certificates of participation you may receive from a PD. You need to have it signed by your administrator. It is also self-explanatory, but a Sample is provided for your reference.

Progress Report Update

Again, we are going to use the "old" form used last year for our 1st trimester progress reports (this time around). The new form will be used for the 2nd trimester. That form will be given out many weeks prior to that 2nd trimester mid-point.

Also, here are the links to the Kindergarten form and the Gr. 1-5 form that were sent out via email this week. We know that given the fact that the forms are Word Docs, some of you are having difficulty keeping the formatting in tact using Google Docs. If anyone has a clean copy of either doc, using Google Docs, please let us know.

Finally, you will have a few extra days to complete the forms given the fact that we started this process a bit late at the elementary level. We have trimmed a day off of the principal's viewing date as well as a day off of the printing time frame.

Reports will not be distributed until Monday, October 28th now. I have updated the Family Newsletter with this new date.

Online behavior referrals - reminder

Please do not forget to put all minor behavior referrals into the system. We are constantly looking over the master spreadsheets for each grade, especially for those children that have been having significant difficulties. Often, we are calling parents when we hear about different infractions, and we need the updated info. in order to convey the right information to families.

Also,

Please use the green plastic folder for all PBIS Brave Buck awards.

Kim has been very busy and is not often in her office - notes are getting lost. She has tried very hard to keep Brave Buck winners and Incentives all in one place.

After your student picks his/her activity please return it to Kim ASAP. She is trying her best to get all winners scheduled in a timely manner.

It is up to the student to attend at the scheduled times.

Thanks!

We are also looking for 2 faculty/staff members to join a district-wide Trauma Informed "Champion Team". I had the chance to speak with a few of you this week about what we are looking for in a Champion for our school and our district.

There is an expectation that our school and district Champions will help to lead us during the next year - as we take part in the Trauma Informed Training through the $500K grant obtained last year.
