How did bombing in WWII affect Lizzie and her family?

The book's problem

In The Elephant in a Garden, the main character, Lizzie, lives in Dresden, Germany during the time World War 2 hit. In that time during the war, most of the fight was in Germany and there was lots of bombing which caused Lizzie and her family to lose their home and travel by foot to get to America.

In four raids between 13 and 15 February 1945, seven hundred twenty-two heavy bombs belonging to the British Royal Air Forces and five hundred twenty-seven of the United States Army, the Air Forces dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive bombs on the city of Dresden. In the story it was shown to be a bombing where Lizzie live, which was Dresden, but from historic articles and videos, it was much worse. Bombing in Paris

The night of Friday 13 by gunmen and suicide bombers from ISIS hit a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars, almost simultaneously - and left 130 people dead and hundreds wounded. This attack intensified the conflict with Iran and Iraq just like in 1945 with the war.

The possible solution to the Paris attack

The solution to the bombing in Paris is that they need more security in big events like the concert hall. Have media play an important role as well. If we broadcast shows or news reports, which have an optimistic note. For the attack with gunmen, the best thing to do is check peoples' bag that are flying into Paris to provoke another violent attack. I would say the main reason this attack occurred is due to the battles over seas, there for the best decision is to increased watch on ariel activity.
