State Assessment Individual Student Reports
Each spring 3-5 students participate in state assessments (MAP). We have been notified by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) that Individual Student Reports will soon be available. ISRs for students currently in grades 4 & 5 will be distributed to families during Parent Teacher Conferences the week of October 24.
Information on how to interpret your child's results will be included with the rep[orts. If you have any questions or would like to see your child's report prior to the distribution times, please contact your child's school counselor or building principal.
Leader in Me
Clever is a Leader in Me school. Leader in Me is a focus based off of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Each month 3-5 will focus on a specific habit. Students will receive LEADERSLIPS which highlight when a student is showcasing leadership skills.
The month of October, we will be focusing on Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind.
• Habit 2 Begin with the End in Mind, Have a plan. Students are focusing on defining outcomes before they act as well as creating mission statements (class and personal).
Be sure to check out our Facebook pages to see all out Leaderslip earners!
5 Reasons Why Reading with Your Kids is Important:
1. It Strengthens Relationship with your Kids
Did you know? If you read together for 20 minutes a day, 7 days a week, you get more than 121 hours of bonding time with your kids every year. It not only allows parent and child to develop life long bonds but also helps your child feel close to you, and the feelings of love and attention encourage positive growth and development.
2. Reading Provides New Experiences for Kids
Through reading children learn about people, places, and events outside of their own experience. Kids experience these new situations through books before they encounter them in real life.
3. Reading Improves Vocabulary and Communication Skills
Reading exposes kids to increased vocabulary and advanced speech patterns, It also helps kids to absorb information on how to form sentences and how to use words and effectively in their writing and speaking helping them develop better communication skills.
4. Reading with Your Kids helps Improve their Concentration
Story time helps reward kids for focusing. Kids have to sit still and quietly so that they can focus on the story when they are reading helping them develop develop longer attention spans.
5. Reading helps Kids Develop a Life Long LOVE of Reading
By cuddling together with a book your child learns that Reading is FUN and that they are the most important thing in your life.

Personal Electronic Devices (PED'S)
Personal electronic devices (PEDs) are defined as any cell phones, radios, tape/cd players, MP3/iPods players, laptops, portable video games, etc. The inappropriate use of PEDs or other disruptive devices in school poses increasing risk of disruptions, bullying, criminal activity, and academic dishonesty.
The Clever R-V board of education prohibits the use of PEDs during instructional time from 7:55 am to 3:40 pm on any day that school is in session. This includes the use of restrooms, water breaks, and during a class period.
