Bobcat Blaze

Weekly Newsletter of AC Moore Elementary

Principal's Message

Greetings Bobcat Families,

We hope you enjoy the first edition of the Bobcat Blaze! Here you will find all the latest information and updates for AC Moore. You can expect to receive a copy of the newsletter in your email every Friday during the school year. We will also post links on our school website, Twitter, and Facebook accounts.

What a week it has been! I want to thank each and every one of you for the grit you showed during this first week of school. We know this unprecendented time has provided many changes and obstacles to when and how your students receive their education.

In an effort to keep what is best for students front and center at AC Moore we have made changes to our daily e-learning schedules for each grade level. Please look for the updated schedule within this newsletter. It is our hope that this new schedule will assist with making this experience more pleasurable and manageable for our Bobcat Families! As you review the schedules if you have any questions/concerns please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher via email or phone. They will assist you during their office hours next week.

I wish you all a safe, fun, and restful Labor Day weekend! #gobobcats #proudprincipal

In this edition of the Bobcat Blaze, our Teacher Spotlight is on one of the newest members of the AC Moore family...Randalyn Britt!

Ms. Britt is a native of Piscataway, New Jersey. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Claflin University in December, 2018. She is especially excited to begin her journey as a teacher and is looking forward to working with all of the wonderful staff and children at A.C. Moore Elementary School!

We are excited to welcome Ms. Britt to the early childhood department as our newest Pre-K teacher!

Counselor's Corner

Need to meet with the School Counselor?

Individual Counseling is an important component of the comprehensive developmental guidance program at A.C. Moore Elementary. Individual counseling is short-term counseling that is available to ALL students who are experiencing negative feelings such as worry, sadness, fear, disappointment, anger, loneliness, or frustration. It is also for those who just need a listening ear. Mrs. Balthazor will meet via Teams with individual students to improve their social skills, discuss feelings, and provide them with the skills necessary for problem solving. All discussions are confidential. Please click the link below if you or your child would like to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Balthazor.

Wellness Watch

Give Kids' Brains a BOOST!

During e-learning students are spending extended amounts of time sitting and/or viewing a screen. Build time into your student's routine to have focused educational brain breaks! Consider doing one of the following:

  • a movement break to get the wiggles out
  • lying still for a few moments
  • deep breathing
  • stretching
  • yoga poses
  • GoNoodle

Research shows that allowing students to have frequent brain breaks helps to improve focus, information retention, and allows learners to stay on task!

Tech Tips

For Parents...

--E-Learning Workstation

  • be mindful of the space where your e-learner will be working
  • try placing your e-learner at a table or desk with their back to the wall
  • use a tri-fold project display board at the table or desk to create a cubicle
  • help your student select organizational items to have at their workstation that will keep them prepared (there are great finds at the Dollar Tree)

For Teachers...

--Try Loom!

  • allows you to record your computer screen while simultaneously recording your voice
  • can be used to give kids/parents a video tutorial of your classroom instruction
