Grade 4 Update
March Mrs. Davis
It's Conference Time
Our second parent/ teacher/student conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th and Thursday, March 26th. Time slots are available between 1:00 and 6:00 pm. Unlike the fall conferences where the teacher does most of the talking, this will be the student's opportunity to show and tell about their latest projects and to share their goals for the rest of the year.
Please request your preferred date and time as soon as possible. Every attempt will be made to honor requests on a first come, first serve basis. A confirmation will be sent.
Math Matters
Geometry continues as our focus for the next few weeks. Students are learning how to classify polygons based on their sides and angles. Additionally, they will manipulate and construct shapes with multiple lines of symmetry.
Division fact fluency and maintaining computation are review skills during this unit.
Reading Roundup
March winds usher in a change of focus in reading! MYTHOLOGY from many lands will be the topic. Most students find this unit to be exciting. In addition to Greece and Roman mythology, students will read plays, poems, and stories from China, Scandinavia, and Native Americans. Comparing and contrasting the themes and topics of these varied traditional stories will allow students to understand and appreciate the cultures who composed the tales and how these themes are incorporated into modern literature.
