October Second Step and PBIS Alignment
To further help our school be a safe and respectful place, our teachers use the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit to reinforce the PBIS pillars we continue to teach. In these lessons, students learn specific skills to help stop bullying by being responsible and safe. This month, students will learn how to:
Recognize when bullying is happening
Report bullying to a caring adult
Refuse to let bullying happen to themselves or others
Be a bystander who stands up and is part of the solution to bullying
Stu Cru Collection of Pop Tabs
Please save and send in your pop tabs to support Ronald McDonald House Charities! This collection is organized by our Woods Creek Stu Cru (Student Council). Across Chicagoland, hundreds of individuals, schools and companies are working together to collect pop can tabs to benefit RMHC-CNI. The tabs are recycled by RMHC’s recycling partner, United Scrap Metal (USM), and the charity then receives the market value of the recycled materials, plus a charitable match from USM. In 2021, USM raised $100,000 for Ronald McDonald Charities.
Send in any tabs on cans of water, soup, cat food, soda, and adult beverages. Send the tabs to school with your student during the month of October. Each class will have a collection jar in their room. After October, send tabs to the school office as we will continue collecting for the remainder of the school year. Thank you for your support.
