From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for your support of our Catholic Schools Week activities. We can’t wait to share what we have collected with Pregnancy Center West. If you still have items, please send them in by Friday as all items will be picked up at 3:15. We have two more theme days this week to wrap up our events. On Thursday, students are encouraged to wear RED tops, along with their uniform bottoms, to show support for Heart Health. I will be wearing my Red for Riley shirt to show support for a family friend who lost her daughter to heart disease almost two years ago. I hope that the rest of the student body will join me in wearing RED on Thursday. Friday, we will again show our support for our Super Bowl bound Cincinnati Bengals. Students are able to wear Bengals gear or orange and black attire to school along with sweatpants or jeans (no shorts). In addition to Bengals spirit wear, students will also be permitted to wear St. John’s spiritwear.
Don’t forget that the last day of the 2nd Trimester is on Thursday, February 17th. Report cards will be sent home the last week of February.
Lastly, we have quite a few upcoming off days in the next two weeks. St. John’s will be off school on Monday, February 14th because we will all be tired from cheering for our Bengals. Can I get a “Who Dey”?! School will also not be in session on Friday, February 18th and Monday, February 21st. Friday, our teachers will be engaged in a day-long professional development session, and Monday, we will all be spending time celebrating President’s Day.
Thanks and have a great week!

Catholic Schools Week 2.0
Thursday February 10th - We will wear Red for Riley
● Friday February 4th was a day to wear red to bring awareness to heart disease in women. This is a cause close to my heart as family friends lost their young daughter to this disease. While the student’s at St. John’s do not know Riley, I would like to show our support to this cause by having all students wear RED shirts or sweatshirts on Thursday with regular uniform bottoms.
Friday February 11th - WHO DEY!
● Students are encouraged to wear their best Bengals gear or orange and black to show our support of our Super Bowl Bound Cincinnati Bengals. Students may also choose to wear St. John’s spirit wear if they do not have any Bengals or orange/black. They may also wear sweat pants or jeans, but no shorts.
● We will hold our 8th grade vs. the faculty volleyball game on Friday February 11th from 1:30-2:45. This will run at the same time as the class parties in the primary grades. The game will be shown on the Active boards in the classrooms.
○ 8th grade parents are able to come watch the game. Doors will open at 1:15.
■ Parents need to park across the street and walk over to the parish center. No cars can be parked in the lower lot due to afternoon dismissal or the upper lot due to bus parking.
○ In the past, it has been tradition for many of the 8th grade students to go to Skyline after the volleyball game. Here are some reminders:
■ No students will be allowed to walk to Skyline after school. All students must have a ride. Don’t forget to send in a note if your child’s transportation will be different on this day.
■ Please remind your child(ren) that they are representing our school when they are out in public after the game. I expect that they will be on their best behavior, and they will leave the establishment as clean as the

Last Call For Spring Soccer
Please register at https://sports.bluesombrero.com/stjab/ by February 11.
St. John's will be offering SAY Rec Soccer for boys and girls playing Swarmers (2016), Passers (2014 & 2015) and Wings (2012 & 2013). These teams will play an 8 game season in Northwest SAY. There is no post season tournament in the Spring.
St. John's also now offers Premier soccer for those who want to experience club level competition. Our teams play in Select leagues such as Cardinal Premier and Buckeye Premier and are eligible to enter various tournaments. This program is coach driven and will typically require a tryout. Keep in mind there is a bigger time commitment with this option and the cost is significantly higher. Right now we have a U9(2013) girls team and are in the process of putting together a U9(2013) boys team. We hope to form more teams moving forward but need coaches and parents to help lead the charge. If you would like more information on our Premier program please contact Tom Osborn.
We will continue to have Academy Training for Swarmers and Passers. This training would be in addition to the teams weekly practice and is designed to give those kids an additional opportunity to work on foot skills, speed and agility, etc. The Academy training will be held on Monday evenings. U.K. International Soccer will run the training sessions. Academy Training is optional but highly encouraged.
***Also this Spring***
- We will offer an 8 week Lollipop training program for 2017 and 2018 boys and girls. This training will be with U.K. International Soccer and will take place on Friday evenings at St. John's April 1-May 20. Registration for this will be separate. More details to follow.
- U.K. International Soccer will be conducting a Day Camp at St. John's during our Spring Break. This is tentatively set for Friday April 22 and will be free of charge.
***A one-time family fee of $50 will be assessed per account at the beginning of each calendar year. The family fee helps to cover capital improvements and operating expenses of our athletic facilities.
***We are looking for volunteers to help with our SAY program. We currently have no one in place to coordinate for the Fall season. Please consider volunteering so our kids can continue to play Soccer at St. John's.
If you have any questions regarding the Soccer program please contact one of our Soccer Coordinators:
