SPLENDID IN 6TH
What's Up in O'Connell's Class this Week - May 16th- 20th
COLD WAR/ CIVIL RIGHTS UNIt
We have begun our last large unit in Mn Studies for the year. Last week students taught their WW2 lessons and began the COLD WAR portion of Unit 8. We are discovering what a superpower is, why the U.S was one and how on earth can you have a war, and not go to battle. We also tool a look at General Mills and the role Betty Crocker played to promote the suburbs and women's new role.
This week we will have a mini check in quiz on the Learning Targets for Cold War on Tuesday. We will then shift the focus onto CIVIL RIGHTS. Students will learn about 3 movements, Afrivan American, American Indian, and Women's Rights.
We will end this unit with the students using THINGLINK to research deeper into one of the 3 above movements to show their mastery of the Learning Targets. This will be an independent project, due after Memorial Day. We will not have a formal test for Unit 8.
