Staff and Student of the Month for April
ALEX DANIELS
Alex Daniels has brought many helpful ideas to the SHS library over the last year and provides a counterbalance to decision-making. He quietly yet wisely evaluates situations, patiently waiting to the side, responding when the opportunity arises. Alex is direct while being professional in recognizing opinions and perspectives of others. He has been a great addition to SHS!
MR. NANCE
Mr. Nance always keeps class fresh and something to look forward to by always having an upbeat attitude and keeping the class laughing. He has built relationships with his students throughout the year to where he can be straight up and honest with his students when they need it.
Mask Mandate for SCS Students & Staff
Please be aware that the lift of the mask mandate beginning on Tuesday, April 6th DOES NOT include K-12 schools.
Per state executive order face coverings will remain mandatory in all state buildings and facilities and in all vaccination and COVID testing sites. K-12 schools will continue under current requirements through the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.
ALL staff, students, parents, contractors/service people, and visitors are still required to wear masks while on school grounds.
COVID-19 SHOT ELIGIBILITY
March 24, 2021
Dear Superintendent:
Anyone age 16 and older will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination in Indiana starting March 31.
Please see the attached information to share with your high school students and their parents. It has important information about how to register for vaccination. Of particular note is the fact that students younger than 18 years old must make an appointment at a site that offers the Pfizer vaccine, as it is the only shot authorized for 16- and 17-year-olds.
Thank you for your help in sharing this vital information with your students and families.
Sincerely,
Kristina Box, MD, FACOG
State Health Commissioner
Mentoring Students
On April 30th, our Mentoring Program Students will be out of the building for a field/activity day.
There is still time to purchase tickets for PROM!
SHS ONLINE BOOK FAIR!!
Hello SHS families,
Mark your calendars and get ready for some fun! We are hosting an online book fair! Book Fair Dates: April 12-April 25 I am so excited about this book fair and wanted to share some highlights with you:
• Quality books guaranteed to entice your readers! Our partner for this online book fair is Junior Library Guild. JLG is an elite book-selection service that until now has only been available to librarians. Over 40,000 new books for children and young adults are published annually and JLG only selects the top 3% for its collection. So, you KNOW these books are going to be good!
• Shop from the comfort and safety of home! With health concerns and social-distancing requirements, this online fair is the perfect way for you to build your at-home library from the safety of your home. And you can shop using any major debit or credit card – no cash needed!
• Direct-to-home delivery! Every purchase from our online book fair will be delivered straight to your door. You can also shop teacher wish lists and those books will be shipped directly to their classrooms. Easy peasy!
• Books starting at $5! Most books in our online fair will be hardcover and first edition with library-quality binding. Well below market price, books start as low as $5—and shipping is FREE for all orders over $30.
• Supports our school! Our library receives a percentage of every book fair purchase, and we can use these funds raised as JLG credit to add more quality books to our collection or receive funds in cash for other needs. Your support is so appreciated! Keep an eye out for more information about our online JLG@Home Book Fair. Thank you in advance for supporting the SHS library and helping us put quality books in the hands of your young readers!
