ADVENT
A REMINDER about our Sacred Heart Newsletters
In keeping with our Eco initiatives and the direction from CDSBEO, schools in our Board have been asked to move away from paper copies of our newsletters to electronic versions. Our monthly newsletter is sent to our families through School Messenger. As always, all newsletters are available on our Sacred Heart website at https://sacredheartlanark.cdsbeo.on.ca.
Please feel welcome to call our school administrator, Irene Larocque, to confirm your current email address. Should you continue to require paper copies of our newsletters, please also let Irene know. We thank you for supporting our Eco initiatives!

PLAYGROUND
With the winter weather already here, please continue to ensure your child is dressed warmly and appropriately for the cold and unpredictable weather - Thank you!
If you have any children's extra, gently-used warm outer wear that is no longer being used at home, please feel welcome to bring the pieces to school - we will pass them along to another child - Thank you!
WASTE FREE WEDNESDAYS
Sacred Heart School is starting our year long Waste Free Wednesday campaign. The Sacred Heart ECO team is encouraging students and staff to reduce their lunch garbage items by replacing them with reusable water bottles and food containers. All students with litterless lunches on Wednesdays will have their names entered into a draw for a reusable container. The winner of the weekly Wednesday litterless lunch draw will have his/her picture placed on our ECO Wall of Fame. Thank you for your continued support in all our Sacred Heart ECO initiatives. Together we can make a difference. ❤️♻️
**Our Sacred Heart Eco Team invites all students in our school to please bring a spoon from home in their lunches each day. Students sometimes ask for plastic spoons; however, disposable plastics contribute toward pollution and fill-up our landfill sites. Having a reusable spoon in your child's lunch kit will ensure that a spoon is always available for your child when needed and will help support our EcoTeam's message of sustainability - thank you for your support!

CATHOLIC SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATE
Our CSC, and our school volunteers, are planning the Sacred Heart annual traditional Christmas lunch for our students and staff at noon on December 18. Our whole school community will come together to share in the lunch at Foy Hall - we are sincerely blessed! Our Council has asked for volunteers - if you are able to help, please contact our CSC Chair, Launa Moore, or contact Irene Larocque in the Sacred Heart Office.
We thank our Catholic School Council for purchasing yard toys for our students! Our students have been enjoying the youth shovels, snow brick molds, soft hockey pucks and mini sticks! Thank you, CSC!

We are asking for a contribution of $2.00 for each student per skating session ($10.00 per student) to a family maximum of $20.00 to help off-set the costs of the Lanark Arena rental. An option to pay through Cash-on-Line will be set up.
