WEEK OF JANUARY 20

JUST A REMINDER...

Big picture

THINGS TO KNOW...

*Not that you will forget, but just a reminder that Monday, January 20 is a school holiday for students and staff! Enjoy your day off! Make it be about you!!

*SOURCE (Foundations) will be meeting on Wednesday afternoon. If you have any concerns about behaviors OR if your grade level is doing observation forms, please make sure those are complete and turned into your SOURCE team member by Tuesday. Remember that if you have specific concerns, you need to attend the meeting to ensure that we understand the concern first hand.

*ORBIT from the Houston Astros will be here on Thursday @ 1:30. ALL students will be in the gym for the presentation. I'll work with Mr. Rodriguez to coordinate that. The presentation is about bullying.

*FRIDAY - we are hosting two sessions with a Teachers College staff developer here on campus who is doing a training with administrators and campus coaches. We will be doing learning walks through classrooms that day based upon the times of the staff development. (they don't work well with our schedule so I have a some people to flip their schedules that day)

*CISD Health Fair is next Saturday. It is a great opportunity to see a variety of vendors who cater to CISD employees. When you attend, you will need to take your badge with you as they scan you in and out. Typically you get an Academy gift card when you leave AND they have drawings after the event for larger prizes.

*Faculty Meeting will be on Monday, January 27. More than likely we will be here until 5 so please plan accordingly. Rachel and Angel will be presenting that day.

*********SAFETY REMINDERS -

*Make sure you have your badge on at all times. If you see visitors in the hallway without badges on, please escort them to the front office to obtain a badge.

*Classroom doors must be locked at all times. If you need a magnet to prop it open, come see Tami.

*********We WILL be having a safety audit this year. Please check your room for things like plug ins or other extra plug in things, chords stretched too far across the room, excess "stuff" in your room (less is more), etc. We will be covering this in a future faculty meeting but go ahead and start working on it.

Positivity Project Topic

The topic this week is Perseverance. This is a strength that is really important in achieving any goal after you have an optimistic vision and a prudent plan. People demonstrating high levels of perseverance are able to handle significant, sometimes repeated, setbacks in pursuit of goals.

This week we will share with teachers about Inky Johnson. His dream was to be a professional football player. Due to a career ending injury, he had to persevere and overcome paralysis in order to earn a master's degree in sports psychology and is now inspiring millions with his story.

TEAM HUDDLES

Going to do a January Team Huddle starting Tuesday. We will meet at 7:25 in your common hallway meeting area. Remember this is optional but gives you an opportunity to express your opinions to me. Questions are:

*What is something good that has happened this week/month/year?

*What is something that needs to be addressed from this week/month/year?

*What is something you'd like to recommend?

SUGGESTION BOX

Okay, it was mentioned to me that the link no longer worked. I've updated it so if you try it and it doesn't go to the "Suggestion Box," please let me know. Just a reminder that suggestions can be made anonymously if you don't want your identify known. If you have suggestions and/or concerns throughout the year, this is one place you will have to let administration know.
