Tower texture and rendering
Base Mesh
LIGHTING
This lighting style seems very dark and moody. The colors and textures that i picked for my tower match the castle in this photo and will work well with the dark lighting. My only concern is that it wont feel as grand, since i'm not texturing something as big and intricate as the tower seen in this photo.
I chose this lighting style since it feels like a good mix between light and dark lighting. I especially like the silhouettes in the background. My concern with this style of lighting is that my scene isn't as crowded with objects like this one and i don't know if it will work as well with only a few objects in the scene.
I liked this lighting style since it is very simple, with nice colors and gets the point of dreamy across easily. I think with the colors and textures i chose, will work well with bright lighting like this one as well as dark lighting, since the majority of my tower will be neutral colors. My only concern is how i would achieve the foggy mist surrounding the scene.
Textures
This somewhat smooth stone texture will be seen on the ground. I wanted the background somewhat simple and bland to contrast the flashy colored tower.
I chose this white brick texture specifically for the mass that makes up most of the tower, since i think it will achieve the regal effect.
I wanted to gold trim some of the objects in my scene, for the cherry on top. This texture will be used sparingly.
This tile texture will be used on the floor or maybe on the walls of the tower. I just wanted to break up the scene by adding somewhat intricate patterns to an already simple scene, and i think this texture will do the job.
This brick texture will be seen on the sides of the tower. The big bricked texture gives it more of a classic fairy tale sort of feel, which i am going for.
Inspired by alice in wonderland, this texture will be seen on the inside floor of the tower. I like this texture since it looks simple, yet is somewhat confusing, the mood i wanted to capture for my scene.
This Texture will be seen on the roof of the tower. I specifically wanted a palette that consists mostly of white, red and gold for a more regal/fairy tale feel contrasted with dark moody lighting.

Reflection
The finished render had come out somewhat as i had planned, but i faced a few challenges as i was working on this piece. Halfway through working on this assignment i wasn't too sure with the lighting and style choice of the clock tower. I didn't want to waste the time i used picking and planning out the textures, so i decided to move forward with it. Another problem I faced was that Maya would sometimes crash every time i moved or rotated an object, delaying my progress, so had to save quite frequently. If i were to change or go back and revise this assignment, i would add in more objects or buildings around the clock tower.
