Cellphone's at School
As a school, we would like to remind everyone of a couple of things.
-If a parent needs to contact their student during school hours rather than call or text a student during class time it is best to call the front office at 801-465-6040.
-Electronic devices may be used during a class period or school activity when specifically approved by the teacher or a school administrator in conjunction with educationally appropriate objectives.
-Teachers may have different policies for phone use or where they are stored in the classroom. It is the student's responsibility to follow the policy of the class they are in. If they are not following the policy and they are asked to turn in their cellphone, they need to follow directions given.

Climbers of the Week!
The BYU Mathematics Education Association is hosting our annual "Discover STEM" event for 6th-8th grade students on Saturday March 9, 2024, 9:00-12:00 at the BYU Wilkinson Center. The Discover STEM Event is free and is an excellent opportunity for your students (and you!) to see real-world applications of mathematics, statistics, science, engineering, computers, technology, and other STEM fields. Your students will learn and have a lot of fun as they experience the interactive and interesting activities provided by members of various STEM-related clubs at BYU!
We ask you to please share this information with your students and their parents so they can be aware of this event. You are welcome to attend with your class if you'd like, but this isn't necessarily a field trip. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students may attend with their parents, and we are hoping you can help spread the word by announcing this to your class and including it in emails you send to your students' parents.
Students should pre-register (for free) for the event by February 6th, and they will receive a free t-shirt for doing so. T-shirts will be limited to the first 500 students who pre-register. Here is the link to give the students and their parents for pre-registering.

Math Hints
Mt Nebo Math Moment: Practice Math Facts Without Flash Cards
Here is an easy game to play as a family that practices multiplication facts in a fun way. All you need is two dice and the recording sheet. If you don't have a printer, you can make your own because the game board is just a 10x10 grid. You could change it up and start with any size grid or you could play so each person starts with their own grid.
Roll the dice, draw a rectangle that size anywhere on the grid, multiply the numbers together to get your score for that turn which corresponds to the area and number of squares of the rectangle that you have claimed. When no more rectangles can be drawn, the game is over. The player with the most points wins.
Complete instructions are included with the recording sheet. Even young kids can play because they can count up their squares instead of multiplying!
Afterschool Clubs
With a new semester starting, after-school clubs are still going strong at Mt. Nebo. A few clubs have recently been added such as gifted & talented, orchestra, digital gamified platforms, space, dungeons & dragons, etc. Please see the club website: www.bit.ly/mtneboclubs for a list of all the clubs being offered and to register students to participate. Students receive a daily snack and registration is FREE. If you have any questions, please contact todd.claybaugh@nebo.edu
This year's after-school Boys & Girls Clubs will run every school day Tuesdays-Fridays starting at 2:45. There are buses that can take students home at 4:40 or you can make your own arrangements for students to get home. Students can participate for free in clubs that include crafts, STEM, underwater robotics, lacrosse, card/board games, ping pong, math, science, rollerblading etc. Students receive snacks before and after the club each day. More details to come! Please register (for FREE) before clubs start at the following website: www.bgcutah.org/mtnebo
