Cyber Safety Evening
Next Wednesday night we are excited to have the opportunity for Rob and Zareen Cope
(Authors, Parents & Filmmakers of the 2020 Documentary: ‘Our Kids Online.’) to present to us in the Silver Fern Events Centre from 7- 9pm.
This will be a proactive family presentation that focuses on effective plans and approaches to help keep your children safe online. If you are able to make it I suggest it will be worth your while. I have three children myself, and will be attending to gain new ideas in order to help them be safe online.
I look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome
STanley Avenue school Speech finals
At 11.30am yesterday a hush fell over the Rec Centre, as we welcomed our judges Mayor Ash Tanner, Marion Kroukam and Keisha Wootton from Te Aroha College. It was School Speech finals day for our very nervous Year 6-8 students.
After preparing and delivering speeches at a class and team level, it was time to step up and speak in front of an audience and judges. This is an incredibly scary thing to do and we commend all our finalists for creative and informative speeches delivered for the first time in front of a crowd. Well done to you all but especially to the winners below.
Year 6 1st Lucas Gamble- Fiji, 2nd Oli McLoughlin - Tornados, 3rd Victoria Forsman - Mexico
Year 7 1st Lukasz Glenn - Why the earth is flat, 2nd Sophie Holder -Stopping pollution, 3rd Xavier Van Kuijk- Solar Farms
Year 8 1st Equal Trinity Lawrence - The Blue Viper, Wynn Williams - Art, 2nd Equal Gaebriel Gamble - Keeping fish, Aiva Valencia - Social Media in NZ
Our first 2 place getters in each year group will now go on to Rotary Speech finals on 22nd September at Te Aroha Primary, against other students from the District Primary Schools.
A huge thank you to our wonderful judges on what is never an easy job! Ka pai.
2022 Town and Country Sports Camp- Winter Olympics
During Week 6, 38 Year 7-8 students attended the 2022 Town and Country Sports Camp. The Town and Country Sports camp this year attracted schools from across the Waikato, Auckland and Thames Valley. The team had an amazing week and we thrived in the sunny conditions. We are delighted that our team placed third out of the ten teams, and were only 4.5 points off second place. Stanley Avenue School were overall winners in Boys Volleyball, Girls Ultimate Frisbee, Bowls, Cross Country and Rock Climbing. Additionally we were runners up in Croquet, Darts, Spikeball, Tennis and Athletics. A standout performance was in the Boys Volleyball final where we won a thrilling final over strong favourites Glen Innes School. The team stuck together, showed amazing support for each other and were determined to seal the deal. I will never forget the emotional scenes from players and supporters alike when the final whistle blew! A number of the Volleyball team are Year 8 and they worked so hard for this all year! Kudos must be given to Mrs Meyler and Mrs Valencia for their organisational and logistical input as well as Cassie Warburton and Kane Holder for their roles as Camp Mum and Dad. We are ever grateful for the parent support, and transport assistance throughout the week. Finally a special mention must go to our major sponsors: Combined Contractors, Best Meats, Happily Ever After, Ag Plus, Master Plastics- Design and Repairs, Handi- Hooke Ltd.
We look forward to this year's Year 6 and 7 students taking this success into the 2023 Town and Country Sports Camp.
Well done to all students who participated.
