Baxter's Best Boosterthon!!
Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the Baxter's Best Fun Run! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on October 16th. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on October 25th. With our big goal of raising $25,000 for playground equipment and campus murals, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Donations will go toward playground equipment and campus murals and to the entire two-week experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!
Campus Character Rings!
Ring points have started over for the next six weeks!!!
I hope your kids came home very excited and committed to being their very best!
A little about our campus Character Rings: Each ring has its own philosophy and meaning shown in the graphic above. The rings work in synergy and with healthy competition. During the course of the school year, students earn points for their ring for citizenship, behavior, academics, and getting caught doing anything well. A running total is maintained and a weekly champion is announced. The ring totals will continue throughout the year until the winning ring is selected for the year.
We are very excited about this positive behavior reinforcement and look forward to the fun that is to come!! Your child received a t-shirt in their ring color! We encourage everyone to wear their ring shirt on FRIDAYS!!
Parent Volunteers- NEW ONLINE FORMS!! SO EASY!!!
Each week you will see links to sign up sheets for particular activities!
Also, PLEASE SEE THE BACKGROUND FORM BELOW! It must be completed before you can volunteer! PLEASE PRINT AND RETURN TO THE FRONT OFFICE!

The 4th “R” ESPONSIBILITY Children learn the three “R’s” in school, but there is another very important “R” which children need to learn at home...RESPONSIBILITY!
A sense of RESPONSIBILITY is an important key to success in all aspects of a child’s life. Children learn RESPONSIBILITY...
when they are given responsibilities at home from an early age on (even toddlers can perform simple little chores)
when chores and tasks are age-appropriate
when they are expected to take care of their own responsibilities (brushing their teeth, getting their homework to and from school, making their beds, etc.)
when they are taught to help out in the family and the community (household chores, picking up after themselves in the park, helping in community projects)
when parents avoid doing for children what they are capable of doing for themselves
when responsibilities are not tied to allowances
when they receive positive feedback and encouragement
when they see responsible role modeling from mom and dad

Notes from Nurse Martin
With all the rain the bugs and mosquitos are out. There have been so many students in the clinic this week with bug bites. Be sure to apply bug spray or repellent prior to outdoor activities to help prevent bug bites.
MISD is looking for RN's, LVN's, EMT's or Paramedics to substitute at any one of our amazing campuses. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
