BULLYING
Can Be STOPPED
What is BULLYING?
Bullying is when someone does something repeatedly over and over to physically and/or emotionally hurt another. The main reason why people bully others is because the bully wants to feel better about themselves when they are more powerful and they get more attention. Why people get bullied is because of their appearance or social status.
Bullying can happen to anyone, regardless of age, and it can happen anywhere, in or out of school. Bullying may even occur online.
WHO is Involved in Bullying?
There are multiple people involved in bullying. There is the bully, the victim/target who is getting bullied by the bully, and the bystanders/witnesses. The bystanders/witnesses include the people who are cheering on the bully, the people who watch and do nothing, and the people who step in and help the victim/target.
Bullying affects everyone involved in the act. Bullying makes the bully feel powerful but it also makes the victim/target feel depressed and alone.
What KINDS of Bullying Are There?
There are four main types of bullying. Physical bullying, verbal bullying, cyber bullying, and social bullying. Physical bullying is when the bully is physically hurting the victim/target. Verbal bullying is when the bully is hurting the victim/target by using words (insults, name-calling, teasing, etc) . Cyber bullying is when the bully is using social sites and technology instead of saying it to the victim/target's face. Social bullying is when the bully is ruining the victim/target's reputation and/or relationships.
How Can YOU Stop Bullying?
If you are being bullied or if you see someone being bullied, politely tell the bully to stop. Don't be rude and start a fight. If the bullying continues, tell someone you trust (preferably an adult like your parents or a teacher). If you have any evidence of the bullying (such as a message), don't delete it, keep it as evidence.
