We Are Off to a Great Start!

Dear LMS family,

At the time I am writing this message we have been in school thirteen days. Thirteen days may not seem like a long time, but our students have accomplished a lot. Students who started the year nervous and unsure about school are now walking in confidently every morning. Many new friendships have been formed. Projects are getting underway. We have even elected our new student council president and vice president, (congratulations Trinitie Lintner and Jenna O’Connor). Our football, volleyball, and cross country teams have been working hard preparing for their fall seasons. Game Board and Radio club have already been meeting. Yes, thirteen days may not seem long, but here at LMS a lot has been happening. Here's to a great year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Hellwege

Our September PBIS Focus

Our positive behavior theme for the month of September is “Move with a Purpose.” Students will be reminded to use unstructured time wisely to get from one class to the next. Please encourage your child to think ahead about where he/she is going and what is needed in that class. Passing periods are only 4 minutes, which is enough time to make a quick stop at their locker or use the restroom. Students with no tardies at the end of September will earn a pass to the “No Tardy Party.”

Athletic News

  • Boys Basketball Open Gyms: Boys basketball open gyms will begin next week. We have scheduled four sessions: Sept. 3, Sept. 5, Sept. 10, and Sept 11 all from 5-7 PM. Any 7th or 8th grade boy interested in trying out for the team this year can attend. Open gyms are not mandatory but a great way to meet the coaches and prepare for the season. Students must have a current physical on file in order to participate and be cleared from all previous injuries. Parents should drop off and pick up students in the back at Door 5.

  • Wrestling Open Mat: Open mat for wrestling will begin on Friday, Sept. 6 from 3-4:30. It will continue every Monday and Friday only until the season starts. Open mats are not mandatory but a great way to meet the coaches and prepare for the season. This is open to any 6th-8th grade student. If attending, wrestlers will need headgear, mouthpiece, and wrestling shoes. Athletes must also have a current physical on file in order to participate and be cleared from all previous injuries. Parents should pick up students in the front at Door 1.
