Fourth Quarter Placements & Information
Here are some details that are important to know before we begin full-day instruction:
We will begin full days on Monday, April 12th.
Our class time will be 8:25 am - 3:35 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Wednesdays, students will learn at home asynchronously.
Students will enter the building at 8:10 am. We encourage you to drop off your students and continue on your way if you arrive prior to 8:10 to keep our traffic moving as we will have twice the amount of students arriving at this time.
Map for drop off/pick up
For those who requested transportation on their recent survey, bus routes will be sent this week.
Please review this video from Mr. Mommaerts and slideshow and be aware of procedures and in-building protocols. If your student is switching from remote learning, please watch this video of procedures in addition to the slideshow.
Please bring a health check form to school each day. If you are new to in-person, here is a copy of the form for your first day. On April 12, we will send home a pad of health slips for you to use in the future.
We look forward to having Intermediate Students at school for full days!
Spring State Assessments
There is important information regarding the State Assessment for all (in-person and remote) 5th and 6th grade students that was shared in a district email from Tim Schell, Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction, back in February.
A few key sections to be aware of for our Intermediate students:
All virtual students will have to take the assessment at school (Wednesday, April 28th & May 5th). Students will need to be either dropped off & picked up by the family or request busing.
All in-person students will take the assessment at school (week of April 26th and week of May 3rd).
Optional student Opt Out form must be submitted to the Intermediate office (Attention: Lisa Jondle) prior to the assessment window. The form is linked in the email message from Tim Schell.
Students will begin working on the pre-assessment activities & training the week of April 19th with their in-person or remote learning teacher. Please feel free to reach out regarding any questions that you may have.
INCOMING SIXTH GRADE MUSIC CHOICE FOR 2021-2022
In sixth grade, students get to choose one of four music class options. They are band, choir, orchestra, and general music. Students have been learning about these class options in their general music class. If you haven't already, please complete the music selection form as soon as possible.
If you have questions about any of the music classes, please contact the appropriate teacher:
Choir and General Music: Mrs. Sussanah Sasman-Herrick - sussanahsasman@waunakee.k12.wi.us
Band: Mrs. Katie Swank - katherineswank@waunakee.k12.wi.us or Mrs. Elizabeth Zinger - elizabethzinger@waunakee.k12.wi.us
Orchestra: Mr. Mike Steen - michaelsteen@waunakee.k12.wi.us
Picture Make-up / Re-take Day
Picture make-up / re-take day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21st for both virtual and in person students. If you are requesting retakes, your original photo package with all the contents must be returned on April 21 to exchange with the photographer. If you missed the original photo day and are getting your pictures taken for the first time, please return a photo package and payment, or you may purchase online but must return the order form to ensure your student and teacher know they are to get their picture taken.
ALL STUDENTS who wish to get their photos taken or re-taken, please sign up for a time slot here. You will enter at the main door #1 in the front of the school at your scheduled time. A staff member will greet your child at the door and take them to the photo area, and will meet you at door #1 when finished.
Transportation Updates

We ask that you talk with your children about safety on the bus. It is important that they wear a mask and remain socially distanced from others not in their immediate family.
Morning Milk Fee
Food Service In-Person Updates
Snack Break:
There will NOT be breakfast served prior to school; however, all students have the option to order a snack to eat during their morning snack time. Items such as yogurt, cheese, grapes, crackers, etc. are available for purchase (please see the attached daily snack menu). Each homeroom teacher will complete the order form daily. Snacks do NOT include milk or water, so if your student would want that during their morning break, they should bring their own water bottle or you can pay the milk/water fee of $12.80.

Lunch Choices:
To help speed up the line, so we can properly social distance our students, we have opted to start with only 1 hot lunch choice. A very kid-friendly lunch option has been planned each day. This lunch menu will be the same menu for both the Elementary and Intermediate levels. We'll reevaluate lunch choices once we're in the swing of things.

The lunch room will look slightly different:
To simplify the flow of the line, to help in proper social distancing and to avoid congregating in small areas:
a. Condiments- all condiments will be pre-cupped up and available right on the hot lunch line for students
b. Utensils- all utensils are being purchased as a pre-packaged kit, including a fork, spoon and napkin
Does your student have special dietary needs? Please email Connie for more information.
