Lincoln Bulletin updates

Once again we had a wonderfully full week of celebrations and excitement and of course learning. Students were treated to a surprise Wednesday afternoon when Lincoln had our first Flash read of the year. Former principals, Barb Stokke, Jarrod Buxton, Chris Balaskovits, and former teachers Lisa McMorris and Katie Boone visited classes and read one of their favorite books. On Thursday Lincoln celebrated its 90th anniversary. An all-school assembly highlighted the historical and educational impact Lincoln has had on St. Charles. We welcomed Mayor Rogina who shared a proclamation, and former alum and local sculpture Ray Kobald spoke about his process along with his memories at Lincoln School. The assembly wrapped up with performers portraying Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd.

I wish all of you the best week off, whether you remain in the area or travel please take the time to enjoy your families and recharge. Our first week back we will have our state testing, please see the schedules below and 3-5 grade teachers will also share in their communication. Also, below is the information regarding intra-district transfers and I am attaching a letter regarding student information. Please read these attachments.

Intra-district transfer request

An Elementary Intra-District Transfer Request must be submitted online no sooner than 8:00 AM on the first Tuesday following Spring Break (April 2, 2019) and no later than 4:00 PM on the third Monday following Spring Break (April 15, 2019). A link to the request form will be posted on the District 303 webpage by 8:00 AM on April 2. If you are requesting a transfer for more than one child, a separate request must be submitted for each. Due to fluctuating class sizes at each grade level, siblings are not guaranteed placement. Please note:

  • A new request must be submitted each year beginning the week after spring break

  • If granted, transportation is the responsibility of the parents

  • The transfer is for one school year and will require re-application the following school year

UNPREDICTABLE SPRING WEATHER

Students have been enjoying some warmer weather and sunshine during recess periods these past few weeks. It is easy to see the opportunity to play in the fresh air is working wonders. During these spring days, students might have a difficult time deciding whether or not to wear a coat during recess. The expectation I will share with classroom teachers and recess supervisors is that if a student wears a coat to school they should be wearing the coat at recess. I appreciate your assistance with this message, as there have been times this week students are wanting to go outside at recess without a coat or fleece and the temperature is still in the upper 40’s/lower 50’s.
