Blueprint Bulletin
Some thoughts for the starting school year
A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO CREATE EQUITABLE OUTCOMES
The Blueprint is a 10-year education transformational commitment that combines school funding and innovative policies to support and empower schools and districts to create the education system that meets the needs of all students and their communities.
- The Blueprint seeks to address historical inequities by providing students, families, communities, schools, and staff with access to resources that effectively close gaps and achieve success.
- The Blueprint includes five distinct pillars of a world-class education system that support the creation of high-performing schools that serve all of Maryland’s learners.
- The Blueprint brings a holistic approach to ensure that all learners have an equal opportunity to become College and Career Ready (CCR).

IMPORTANT UPDATES
- The Accountability & Implementation Board (AIB) officially approved our Implementation Plan on 7/27. We are now n the process of analyzing current progress toward our goals and determining next steps toward Phase 2 of implementation, which is due March 2024.
- Career Counseling is coming to CCPS. We are looking forward to implementing the Career Counseling program in our secondary schools this year. Each school will have a Career Advisor who will be primarily responsible for serving students in secondary schools and work with community partners and businesses to provide exposure and opportunities for our students to prepare them for careers.
- Our Blueprint team will be conducting school-based community forums starting this fall to help gain staff perspective and positional impact for different groups of employees in the school system. In addition, we will host community meetings this year like what we did last year in an effort to raise awareness, but primarily to collect community thoughts on our implementation strategies.
NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION
National Board Certification (NBC) is the highest teaching certification a teacher may obtain. There are currently 19 NBC Teachers in CCPS. In addition, we look to have over 100 teachers pursuing NBC this year and at some point, we hope to have at least one NBC teacher in every school.
