~ Hawley School Newsletter: January 12, 2019 ~
From the Desk of Mr. Moretti
Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians,
Happy New Year! I hope that you enjoyed your break spending time with family and friends. We have eased back into our routines with learning and hard work all around. January is shaping up to be busy as we head into the 2nd half of the school year.
Here's What's Happening at Hawley.......
SAFETY: Your Help Needed
- be mindful of your speed in our parking lot, keep it slow
- keep eyes focused while driving as people/students are everywhere (especially at dismissal and pick-up)
- no cell phone use while driving
- keep students seated and buckled in cars until they are exiting, especially while in the drop-off line
- at drop-off, students should be exiting from the right and parents should be remaining in vehicles (the goal is independence with students able to exit unassisted (staff can help if needed)
We Thank You for your support in our top priority of keeping students safe!
- Monday: Mismatch Day
- Tuesday: Tie Dye Day
- Wednesday: Crazy Hair Day
- Thursday: Pajama Day
- Friday: Hawleywear Day
Friday also concludes our week with Student Self-Kindness Day (see below for more information ;0)
Student Self-Kindness Day!!
The staff at Hawley are going to give time this Friday, 1/18/18 for just this purpose. It will be Student Self-Kindness Day!
Students will be given a list of activities (such as coloring/art, gym games, reading, yoga, crafts, puzzles). They will choose and participate in 2, 45-minute sessions run by a staff. Sessions will be with mixed grades and varied staff. This will be a very fun day that we are all looking forward to.
Reminders / FYI
Please remember to call the main office when your child is going to be late or is absent. We have to account for every student, every day. Without a call from you, we need to spend time calling all of your contact numbers to get confirmation that your child is in fact absent.
Our lost and found remains overflowing with nice clothing. Please check to see if your child is missing coats, sweaters, jackets, sweatshirts and hats. Send kids to get them this week or feel free to come in after school to take a peek. We need to clean house ;0)
PTA After School Programs are up and running. Thank you volunteers for your time.
4th Grade Math Night was rescheduled for THIS Thursday, 1/17/19. If you have not yet signed up and would like to, please fill out and send in the sign-up form (click here)
Monster Mash: Auction Items!
I will continue to share pictures of students participating in their Auction Activities. Here are students arriving to school in a fire truck (Thank You NFD) as well as Painting and Popcorn with Mrs. Grimaldi, Mrs. O'Connell & Mrs. Rickert!
