Spring 2022

Welcome to Quarter 4!

It's hard to believe that spring is here, and we have less than 9 weeks left of school. We are entering our busy time of concerts, celebrations, testing, and ...graduation.

A special welcome to the IH Class of 2026- we are so excited to be welcoming 200 incoming freshman in the fall, and we look forward to your IB stole ceremony in four short years!

Upcoming Events- mark your calendars!

Arts Showcase on Friday, April 8, at the Courtyard Theater in Downtown Plano. A reception at 5:00 p.m. will be followed by dance and theater performances as well as a Visual Arts open house. All are welcome to celebrate our Fine Arts IB seniors.

Senior Showcase on Tuesday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the Plano East gym followed by an Open House in Building 1. All IH (present and incoming) and IB students are invited to attend this event that is required for seniors. Our Class of 2022 IB graduates will be showcasing their extended essays, CAS projects, and TOK Exhibitions. (We will also be sharing some information about the schools they will be attending and the scholarships they have received.) This is a wonderful time to learn more about the unique IB diploma core. Parents and students are invited to come and ask questions of our graduating seniors.

IBSSA Banquet on Friday, May 13, at 6-10 p.m. at Collin College (Spring Creek Campus). This event is for grade 11 and 12 IB DP students only. We will begin selling tickets mid-April, and dress is formal or semi-formal. Dinner and dancing will follow our presentation and awards ceremony.

Our ceremony includes brief speeches, presentation of IB scholarships, and presentation of the stoles. Students will attend class that day with stoles on! Dress is business or semi-formal for students. Expect an Evite-style invitation in early May!

The Situation in Ukraine

As you can imagine, the IB is gravely worried about the Ukraine invasion. As DP Coordinator, I am in touch with the organization, and they are letting us know how we might help. The IB has written an open letter to the IB community found at https://tinyurl.com/IBUkraine and resources are also available on the site. The letter ends with these beautiful words: "We truly are a caring and compassionate global community. These are the times when our values and learner profile attributes are really tested. Although saddened with what is happening, we shall never lose our faith in humanity and our trust to be able through imagination to create a better world. I fervently hope that we will achieve peace soon. Our children deserve nothing less from us."

TIBS (Texas IB Schools) College Fair

This year's college fair, tailored for IB students, is virtual again: https://www.texasibschools.org/college-fair Feel free to visit and learn about different universities and colleges who value our IB students.

Attendance Issues
