Notes from Coach Mitchell
TCA Families,
It has been a privilege to watch out student-athletes perform over the last few weeks. I can’t say it enough, the thing I appreciate the most about the kids is the sportsmanship they are demonstrating during the heat of the contest. That is a direct tribute to you, the parents. I love it when a football player has a clean, hard hit on an opposing player and then lowers his hand to lift him off the ground (rinse and repeat!). All of our kids/sports are doing this in different manners… soccer, softball, volleyball, etc. Yesterday I was able to be a spectator for a short time at a golf tournament held at Eisenhower. Watching our 4 young men play was a joy, and again, I was impressed with how they handled themselves under pressure. Great job to all of them and the rest of the Fall sports and activities that are competing. I’m also looking forward to my first TCA Choir concert in October. Hope you can make it as well!
Hot off the press – our Boys Cross Country team is earning some national recognition…they have been mentioned in the top 50 teams in the country according to MileSplit!!!
Go Titans!

High School Sports News
Winter Sports Registration (Opening Soon!):
All registration requirements must be completed by 11/07/22 (one week prior to the first practice date of 11/14/22). Registration after this date must have special circumstances and approved by the Athletic Director. DO NOT BE LATE. Registration will open for High School Winter Sports (Men's and Women's Basketball, Wrestling) on 09/29/22.
- A current physical is required before the start of the Winter season and must be good through the sports season you are registering for.
- All forms can be found on the TCA Activities website.
- College Pathway students and other non traditional TCA students must be assigned to TCA each year – we have to have a new assignment letter signed by D20 – no exceptions. If you have participated in sports at TCA in previous years, this won’t be an issue, but we must have a form for the 2022-23 school year. You must also complete an Eligibility Form indicating grade for the previous semester and that you are taking enough credits in the current semester to participate in Athletics. Both of these forms will need to be uploaded by the Family to their sports registration.
- The activity fee is required to be paid, or have a payment plan set up, the day before the first competition (including scrimmage). It can be paid on-line through Infinite Campus, by calling Finance at 488-6237 or a check dropped off to the Finance Office. Please communicate with the Athletic Director if there are monetary issues.
Cross Country
The cross country teams had two meets last weekend, the Harrison Panther Invite at El Pomar Sports Center here in Colorado Springs, and the Running from the Past Classic in Greeley. The team enjoyed the cooler temperatures over the weekend as many athletes ran their best 5k times ever. Some kids ran their first 5ks last weekend and are doing a great job. The competition in Greeley included most of the best teams in 3A, and the Titans won both team titles. This week, the team heads northwest to Lyons on Saturday for one of the biggest meets of the season, the St. Vrain Invitational. Over 60 schools from across Colorado are scheduled to compete, and the Titans will run in the 4a/5a schools' division with the best of the best.
Men's Golf
The TCA men’s golf team completed the 4th of 5 CSML North tournaments on Monday at the Air Force Academy. They are solidly in second place in the league behind Falcon high school. Leading the Titans was junior Nathan Valentine with a score of 74. His freshman brother, Zac, had an 85, and senior Ryan Heiser completed the team scoring with a 90.
On Wednesday, we play our 5th and last CSML at Spring Valley golf course near Elizabeth.
Next week we will compete in the all-important regional tournament at Walking Stick in Pueblo.
Men's Soccer
The Titans boys soccer team had a good week last week, defeating both 5A Pine Creek and 3A #1 Colorado Academy. This week the Titans will face Canon City on Tuesday (9/13) at TCA, JV at 5:00 and V at 7:00. On Friday the Titans will travel to Cheyenne Mountain High School with JV at 4:30 and V at 6:30. GO TITANS!!!
Cheer
Football
Three down and six to go for the TCA Titan footballers. That is, of course, after a well-earned bye week.
TCA is already a third of the way through its season with 3 wins. Last week, TCA traveled to Alamosa and jumped out to a 35 to 0 lead by halftime before cruising to a 42 to 14 victory against a team many believe could compete for the Tri-Peaks League crown.
Sophomore Quarterback Andrew Brown threw a pair of touchdown passes, the first was his first as a varsity starter, and ran for another, also his first at this level. Aaron Johnson picked off 2 Mean Moose passes and Ethan Aragundi contributed with 2 scores and his 3rd 100 plus yard rushing game in 3 tries.
The Titans are off this weekend, next Friday they take on in-town rival Sand Creek at the “Scorpion Pit.”
Volleyball
Women's Softball
The softball team had a large windmill to charge this past week by playing 6 games in 6 days. The games included playing in the Pueblo Hornet Tournament over Friday and Saturday. The softball team played extremely well throughout the week, taking 2 wins when it was all said and done. This week, they face the top two teams in the league, Falcon and Elizabeth. They continue to work on getting better every day, every game and every play and they always go in with the focus on playing to the best of their ability. The team is now over halfway through the schedule and is set on finishing the season strong.

VIEWING GAMES:
We are now up and running to view games via the nfhsnetwork! It is a subscription service so it won't be free like youtube. It is a monthly auto renew. It also gives parents and fans an opportunity to watch any sport across the country that uses the system. Only one usable device per subscription, so if shared, it won't allow multiple users at the same time.
