Miss Brown's Bulletin
Week of December 14-18
Christmas Celebration
On Friday, December 18 we will be celebrating Christmas as a class. Following the Compass reward in the morning, students will go to the gym and watch a Christmas movie with Mrs. Ray and the other administrators. Following the movie, we will celebrate in the classroom by making a craft, having a gift exchange, and playing a few games. If you wish to send in snacks, please let me know in advance. We cannot have outside food until after lunch, so snack will not be eaten until the afternoon.
As this will be an all-day celebration, no chaperons will be needed. But if you wish to be a part of it, please contact me so we can find a way for you to help.

Field Trip
This Thursday is our field trip to the Ohio Theater in Madison, IN. I have contacted all adults interested in attending and sent home a reminder in your child's agenda for those permitted to attend.
Some parents had expressed that they wanted to drive their child themselves, and it was clarified that to do so you must write a note clarifying that you wish to drive your child and it must be dated for the office to keep on file. There is no longer a form kept in the office to fill out. If you are planning to do this, please let me know in advance for bus seating chart purposes.

We Are Learning To...
Language Arts
We will be wrapping up Module 1: Reading Around the World this week. The focus of this Module has been answering questions using key details from the test, finding the main idea of a passage, use details in the text to determine the author's message in a story, and using context clues to determine the meanings of unfamiliar words. There will a test over this content on Wednesday.
Math
We will be wrapping up Topic E, which focuses on subtracting and rounding to estimate the difference of two numbers. After we finish this topic, we will have a quiz over Topics D and E on Tuesday, which focus on addition and subtraction. We will then use Wednesday to review all of Module 2. And we will take the unit test Thursday afternoon.
