TECHNOLOGY TIP for FEBRUARY

Special thanks to Karen Tiffin for sharing our monthly Technology Tips!

Boost the look of your presentations and publications by using a few graphics tips, found below.

Find tons of FREE, high-quality, and unique slides templates to use with Google Slides OR Powerpoint at Slides Carnival (https://www.slidescarnival.com/). Download as many templates as you like and use them whenever you want.

When you find a color on a website that you love, but can't quite reproduce it for your own presentation, use the ColorPick Eyedropper Chrome Extension. Grab the exact color code from an image or website and copy the code. Choose custom color and paste the code to match your font or object color exactly.

Find great color combinations for your presentations at Paletton (http://paletton.com/). This website will help you decide on perfect color combinations and hues to use to make your online or print publication visually appealing to your viewers. Decide on your primary color and let Paletton help you find the best colors to compliment your palette.

Fonts, fonts, fonts... when using Google Slides, Docs, and Drawings you have hundreds of fonts to choose from. When you click on the font drop-down menu, the first option, at the top of the menu is "More fonts." You can choose to look at only certain types of fonts or sort them in different manners. Any fonts that you select, become a part of your default font list, then you can use them in the Google products as you like.

Soundzabound Music

GPISD has added 2 new volumes, v10 & Epic Moments, to the music library through Soundzabound.

Perfect for podcasts, classroom music/sounds, PowerPoint™, videos, news, shows, video yearbooks, digital storytelling, presentations, TV broadcasts, web design and more! Our students & staff members needing music should pull from these volumes to protect our system against copyright infringements. Soundzabound is included in ClassLink and the generic login information for everyone is:

  • username = galenapark
  • pw = galenamusic

Please help spread the word and share this information with all students & faculty members. A good time to share is when you are discussing copyright, research, digital citizenship topics, etc.
