Come join us for a Historical Mural Unveiling at Welcome Home Boutique & Art Space in Downtown Lemon Grove

Come join us for a historical mural unveiling at Welcome Home Boutique & Art Space in downtown Lemon Grove!

This gorgeous 70-foot mural is the work of famed muralist Mario Chacon and highlights “the Lemon Grove Incident,” the first successful public school desegregation case in the country, and a precursor to the famous Supreme Court case Brown v. the Board of Education.

We have worked closely with the Lemon Grove Historical Society and families that were involved in the Lemon Grove Incident to ensure this mural reflects the true facts and wishes of the affected parties.

We have also incorporated the artwork of the students at Lemon Grove Academy Middle School and San Altos Elementary School, expressing their gratitude to the bravery of the parents and students who stood up to the racist school segregation policies, allowing students of all races the equal access to education they deserve.
