Important Upcoming 2020 AP Exam Registration and Payment Changes
Dear Families of Students taking AP Classes:
The AP® Program has introduced new resources and processes designed to help students earn college credit and placement. Here’s what you and your student need to know:
· SHS AP students will be asked to register and pay for their AP Exams by October 31, 2019, at the SHS ASB office, or online https://wa-bellingham.intouchreceipting.com/
· The 2020 fee is $47 per exam. Students who qualify to receive free or reduced lunch will have their AP exam fees waived, provided they submit a Low-Income Student Verification Form to the ASB office, signed by a parent/guardian, prior to the registration deadline. This form is available at the ASB office.
· There will be a $40 fee for late registration (after 11/15) and a $40 cancellation or unused exam fee
· AP Exams will be held May 4 - May 15, 2020
· AP students should have already signed in to myap.collegeboard.org and enrolled in their AP class sections using the unique join code provided by their teacher for each AP class.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, or your child’s AP teacher, if you have questions. Thank you!

East Gym Entrance
Please use our Main Entrance for all events, pick-ups, drop-offs and any other reason you may have to be here at Sehome High School in the evening hours. The East Entrance to the Gym area is no longer an entrance for any of our evening events on campus.
This is for the safety and security of everyone here at our school. The front entrance doors are the only doors that will be unlocked in the evening if an event is in session. There is an elevator and several handicap parking spots available at the front of our building. The East Parking lot is an entrance for emergency vehicles and must be clear of all vehicles along the sides of the road so Police, Fire and EMT vehicles can navigate to and from and emergency.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping with keeping our school safe.

Free and Reduced Meals Applications
This is a reminder that we accept free and reduced meals applications throughout the school year. The priority deadline to return applications is Oct. 31. The 2019-20 application is available online or can be found in the back of the Family Handbook and Calendar mailed to families in August. Printed applications are also available in your school office. Families only need to fill out one application for all children in a household.
Applying for free or reduced meals is not only important for providing meals for your children but it also helps support district funding. Eligibility is based on any one of these three factors: 1) total household income and size; 2) a child’s individual status as foster, homeless, migrant or runaway; and 3) participation in an assistance program by any member of your household.
Note: If you have already submitted an application for free or reduced meals for the 2019-20 school year, you do not need to reapply unless your income status has changed. Citizenship or immigration status does not affect your eligibility for receiving benefits.
For questions about the free and reduced meals application, contact Food Services at (360) 676-6504.

GOOD FOOD PROMISE STUDENT AMBASSADORS
The Student Ambassadors would be a link between food services and their peers, helping us learn about how students are responding to the new menu and what changes they would like to see. We will have one meeting per month at the Shuksan dinner program, where they will be the first to get to try a potential future menu item and offer feedback. We also will give them simple but important assignments to gather input from peers each month (e.g., take photos of 20 students’ lunch trays, ask 20 kids for their feedback on the salad bar or a new menu item). We are looking for students who are:
- outgoing and enjoy talking to a lot of different people
- interested in food and health
- eat school meals frequently
- willing to make an effort to attend a dinner meeting once per month on the third Wednesday of each month at Shuksan Middle School from 5-6:30PM.
These students will get to have an important say in the development of future school menu items and food service. For their community service, we will offer Student Ambassadors free dinner once a month and plenty of swag (t-shirts, buttons, etc.), as well as an item for their resumes and college applications (we will write letters of recommendation upon request).
Students interested in this position should complete the application and email it to Chef Patrick by October 23.
Sehome Boys’ Lacrosse
Optional Boys Fall Lacrosse Club Experience will be available during the month of November. There will be approximately 9-10 practices and a Jamboree style game day. If interested in playing in November or during the spring season, there will be a parent/player meeting on Tuesday 10/29, location and time details forthcoming.
Parking Lot Passes
Please have your students pickup our free parking pass at the ASB office if they don't already have one. There are WWU students parking in our lots taking up much needed parking spots. In order for me to know who our students are they must have a pass. Passes are free and if they forget their pass they can sign in their vehicle in the main office. As stated previously, vehicles without a parking pass can be towed at the owners expense.
Thank you for helping me with this and getting the word out.
