Short But Great Week!

We only had three days with the students this week, but we had a blast!

A few things to note for the upcoming week -

District Volleyball games are switching to Mondays(not Thursdays). The volleyball teams play in Thrall this weekend, and then Florence comes to town on Monday.

Our football teams have their first games on Thursday in Comfort! There will be two games, and the first will start at 5:00.

Picture Day is coming up on Tuesday, September 17th.

Our first pep rally will be in two weeks - September 19th vs. Llano.

Volleyball Highlights

8th Grade Volleyball vs Manor

Our volleyball teams traveled to Manor New Tech on Thursday. Below you will find the results for our 8th grade teams:

8 Blue:

Our Blue team won the first set 25-17 and the second set 25-10.

Our leading servers were Kambree Meyer with 9 serves and Rylie Greenlees with 7 serves. Leading passers was Rylie with 8 passes and Emily Wilson with 6. Our leading hitters were Kambree Meyer and Emily Wilson Also contributing to our team is: Elle Voita, Gabby Williams, Kira Federoff, Reagan Phariss, Sabrina Vaughan, Ivonne Saavedra, and Dana Jensen, Alanna Biniak, Maddie Nowlin.

8 Gold:

Our Gold team also beat Manor New Tech in 2 sets with scores of 25-11 and 25-12.

Our leading servers were Addison Lockhart with 8 and Brooke Everett with 7 serves. Leading passers were Brooke Everrett, Jada Malone, and Jaelyn Hergenreder. Finally, our leading hitters were Addison Lockhart with 4 and Jada Malone with 3 hits. We also saw great plays by: Kendall Karg, Mary Spiers, and Sana Felix.

We host our next home game this Monday against Florence. Games start at 4:30.

Thrall Tournament:

Our 8th graders played 3 amazing games this Saturday at our Thrall Volleyball Tournament.

Our first game was played against Mumford. Our team got down in the first set and came out short 25-27, but we rallied back with great leadership on the court by Addison Lockhart, Brooke Everrett, and Jada Malone to win the next two sets 25-21 and 15-4.

Our second game was played against Milano. We played our first set well and came out on top with a 25-22 win. We got down the second set losing a close one 23-25. With key plays by Jaelyn Hergenrder, Mary Spiers, and Abbie Wood we were able to come back in the third set and won 15-8.

The championship game was played against the Thrall Tigerettes. This was a fast paced and intense game. We struggled with a few mistakes and came up short in the first set losing 21-25. Key plays and great hustle by Emma Clark, Kendall Karg, and Sana Felix contributed to our comeback win 27-25 in the second set. We earned runner-up in the tournament losing the third set 6-15.

I am so incredibly proud of the girls’ teamwork and sportsmanship. We played with a lot of heart and determination.

As we are getting into Volleyball and Football season, remember that no outside drinks are allowed at sporting events. So please leave your Yeti's at home, and if you're thirsty, support our concession stand. Thank you!
