A book is a dream that you hold in your hand.
In a good book the best is between the lines.
The only important thing in a book is the meaning that it has for you.
Reading Rockets
Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. In March, as part of National Beta Club Week, the East Lee Beta Club visited Broadway Elementary School on March 21st. During this visit, members read several books to each of the kindergarten and first grade classes. Members answered questions about the books they read and about middle school in general. The Beta club members enjoyed their time spent with these kids.

Lee County Middle School Band and Orchestra Festival
Band and Orchestra students from East Lee, San Lee, and West Lee Middle Schools participated in our 8 annual Lee County Middle School Band and Orchestra Festival this past weekend, March 18 and 19. The students rehearsed together Friday and Saturday and performed a concert for family, friends, and the community Saturday afternoon. The best part about this year's festival is that both clinicians that we brought in to work with the kids are affiliated with Lee County schools. Our band clinician, Jessica Traversino Simmons, grew up in Sanford and was a band student at West Lee Middle School and Lee County High School before getting her degree from UNC-Greensboro and obtaining a job teaching band in Moore County. She still performs with the Lee County Community Orchestra. Our orchestra clinician, Matthew Box, was the orchestra teacher at Lee County High School for 2 years, before leaving to pursue a graduate degree in Music Theory at UNC-Greensboro
