Fourth grade puberty meeting cancelled
The 5th Grade Puberty Meeting for tonight has been postponed. We don’t know what news will transpire throughout the day and because the Puberty Unit doesn't start until after April vacation, there is no urgency to have this meeting tonight.
We apologize for the inconvenience and know that many of you were looking forward to this (Ms. Kinsella was as well!). She will be in touch with a new date as soon as we can schedule it.
Translations will be added as soon as they are available. If you are friends with other 5th grade parents/guardians, please help us pass along the message.
Thank you!

Games from Around the World
ACHI
Achi is a simple two-player game that you can play at home to continue building math skills. The math in this game is not straightforward, but instead is seen through logic and reasoning. Achi is a game played in Ghana, but it also goes by the name Tapatan in the Philippines.
Instead of the game ending when the three pieces have been placed, players move their pieces until a 3-in-a-row is formed. It’s a quick, simple, and addicting game. Here’s the gameboard and directions. Try it out and share your experiences!

At Framingham Public Library (downtown)
On Saturday March 21st, there is a used book sale at the downtown branch of the Framingham Public Library (49 Lexington Street). The sale is open to the public from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. This book sale is a great way to get inexpensive books for your kids. They have a wide selection of children’s books and some really great deals. Most books are only $1.00 and children’s books are often 50 cents or less!
The used book sale happens monthly, so if you can’t go on March 21st, mark your calendar for the April, May or June dates If you can go on March 21st, snap a picture of you and your child there and share it with me at bberkman@framingham.k12.ma.us. I can’t wait to see what books you find!

MCAS
Dear Parents and Families,
We hope you and your children are staying warm. While it may be hard to believe, spring IS just around the corner, and with spring comes MCAS testing for grades three through five.
Testing will begin on Monday, April 13th and conclude on Tuesday, May 19th. The testing schedule is below. Each testing session will be between 1½ to 2 hours, although students have until the end of the day to finish, if needed. We will be testing each morning on the testing days. It is important for all students to be in attendance and ON TIME.
Should you have any questions about MCAS, please do not hesitate to call us.
As always, thank you for your involvement and support in your child’s education and growth.

care and share
The Jane Shapiro Care and Share began in 1995 as a Dunning School community service project. Each month a specific food item is collected at the school to help keep A Place to Turn's shelves stocked. What a great sharing and learning project! Donations are gathered up by the students and then with help from staff, they are delivered to A Place to Turn. Learn more about A Place to Turn here.
Thank you for your contributions to A Place to Turn during the year. Our monthly food collection makes a huge difference in our community, while teaching our students the importance of giving.
