Illinois Science Assessment-ISA
Arrival and Dismissal
We are very concerned about the safety of the students during morning drops off and at dismissal. At drop-off and dismissal, there is only ONE LANE on the Morgan side of the school. There should not be two or three lanes of traffic. We have observed this and someone is going to get hurt or cars are going to get damaged. Please pull up and drop your student off. Students do not need to be dropped off directly in front of the door. Pulling up in the lane, allows other cars to safely pull in to drop their child off. We can not have students walk through two or three lanes of cars… someone will get hurt.
After school .. PLEASE let the buses leave the lot first so that we do not have an accident. We need to have patience. The buses leave daily between 2:38 PM and 2:40 PM. Please make arrangements to pick your child up at 2:40 PM to allow our buses to leave safely and to help with traffic on the Morgan side of the school.
Thank you for your attention to this and the safety of our students.
Extensions on Computers
Recently, the technology department has seen an increase in students using Chrome/Edge browser extensions to bypass the district’s internet content filter.
The technology department had workshops with all students before Spring Break informing them that installing software such as browser extensions is against the Student Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). Students were also shown how to remove any software/extensions they have added during library time during the weeks of March 14th and March 21st.
The school-issued computers should only be used for school-related work and assignments. Starting the week of April 4th, any student that is in violation of the Student Acceptable Use Policy, AUP, will receive a Saturday School detention.
Tech Updates
Homewood School District 153's Technology Department is excited to inform families of two new tools that will be implemented when students return from Spring Break. These new tools are provided by Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, and are being implemented to help parents and guardians know more about their student's internet activity on HSD153 student laptops at home and school.
(1) Parent Reports:
Parents can sign up to receive a weekly report that shows their student's internet activity.
(2) Internet "Pause" during after school hours:
Students will have the internet disabled on district laptops between the hours of 10:00 pm CST and 6:00 am CST, seven days a week.
For more additional information regarding these new tools and how to signup for Parent Reports, please visit our district website.
