Remote Learning - Updates and Information- April 10, 2020
I hope you have been able to enjoy some lovely weather this week. I am continuing to try and adjust to this new normal. I'm not sure that it will ever feel normal, but we are doing our best to embrace it. In my Morning Meeting message today, I talked to the kids about shifting perspectives. Instead of focusing on what we can't do (there are so many things), I encouraged them to think about what they can do now. I challenged them to take this time to try new things and attempt something that they haven't been able to do before. For me, it's gardening. I love it, but I tend to kill most everything. Any words of advice from veteran gardeners?
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all Stott families who have been impacted by this virus. Thank you to everyone who continues to work on the front lines and fight for the health and safety of others. You are so appreciated!
Below are a few updates from Stott.

Social Emotional Support
Hello parents and guardians,
First I want to say that you are all doing an amazing job in a trying time. I also wanted to let you know that I am available if you are having social or emotional concerns about how your student is coping with all of the changes. To contact me, you can send me an email at:
Jennifer.Bleckley@jeffco.k12.co.us. If calling or texting is easier, you can also reach me on my google voice number during school hours at: (720) 689-5559.
It is normal for all of us to have worries right now. If you are looking for specific resources related to worry to look through with your student, feel free to check out these resources below:
1. Here is a link to a reading of a book written by a school counselor, Julia Cook called Wilma Jean the Worry Machine. This book gives some tips for how to help when your student is feeling worried.
2. Julia Cook also has a book specifically about the Corona Virus that can be viewed online: https://www.juliacookonline.com/news/
3. There is also a podcast that is produced in conjunction with Second Step and they have one about feeling scared and also one specifically about how to talk with kids about Corona Virus fears (episode 1 and 3). They are short, created with a developmental psychologist with coping skills and made to be listened to with kids. https://www.imagineneighborhood.org/
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
