Vaccinations for Lake County Residents
Have you ever thought about becoming a substitute teacher?
As a reminder, the qualifications to be a substitute in the state of Illinois are:
- Applicants MUST hold a "Professional Educator License" (PEL), or a "Professional Substitute License" and be registered in Lake County (Region 34). Here is a pdf if you would like more information on how to apply for a substitute teaching license with a bachelor’s degree.
- No previous teaching or student-teaching is required, although applicants with education degrees and/or instructional experience are preferred.
- As a reminder when we return, we will be following all recommendations from the IDPH guidelines including 6 feet social distancing and the wearing of PPE for all staff and students.
From the Technology Department
Antioch CCSD 34 Alerting System - the District uses SwiftReach SwiftK12 through PowerSchool to send out alerts to our families, including emergencies, newsletters, general information, etc. As a user, you have the ability to customize your alerts by logging into your PowerSchool parent portal, click on SwiftReach SwiftK12, and click on Alert Preferences. You can also check your contact information for these alerts.
iPad Storage - as we continue to use the iPads as tools to support teaching and learning, it is important to manage the storage on the device. One easy way to create space is to delete out photos and videos that are not needed or unrelated to school. Please take a few minutes to complete this task -- if you need support, we have created a simple video with directions.
App Updates - Antioch CCSD 34 uses JAMF to manage our mobile devices. When an update for an app comes out, JAMF will download the new version and push it out to all devices. Devices NEED to be connected to Wi-Fi and plugged in to receive the new app. A good practice would be to plug in your device at night and keep it connected to Wi-Fi. If that is not possible, the device will download the new update the next time it connects to Wi-Fi.
Return to In-Person Learning Status
The adaptive pause will continue until at least January 4, 2021. As we get closer to January 4, 2021, the district continues to monitor data, explore best-practice, seek the advice of experts, and make the best and right decisions for us.
Our team is finalizing our Logistics and Operations Plan, inclusive of our hybrid learning model and schedule. We aim to be prepared for a return to in-person learning as soon as the data and Lake County Health Department indicate that it is safe and feasible to do so.
The BookHub is taking orders for another round of Library Books. Books will be available at the October 15th Materials Pick Up Day. Students can request books by placing specific books on hold thru Destiny Discover or by choosing themes and we will pick the books for you. Holds and Theme Specific Request forms can be found on the Library Websites.
All fees are due, families should login and make their payments through Rycor. For questions or concerns please email email@example.com
