Wild Rose Elementary
December 18, 2020
A note from Mrs. Solomon
Dear Wild Rose Families,
Wow what a year it has been! The work, effort, support you all have given is extraordinary. We could not be where we are without your continued dedication to your children and our school. You all have been instrumental in student success and for in-person, always remote, and part-time remote. For that we are extremely grateful. Thank you to our families for making our winter celebrations be "celebrations." While everything is different we all found ways to take time to celebrate together.
Wild Rose thank you for your generosity and kindness leading up to winter break. You are so very giving and we are so grateful. Your words of encouragement have meant more than you can imagine.
As a building we choose to focus on JOY and are continuously working to bring that joy into our classrooms both face-to-face and virtually. As 2020 comes to a close the idea of a new year brings hope and possibilities. We look to renew and start over with new ideas and new opportunities.
I hope you are able to turn off your screens, be creative, be inventive, start new traditions, and reflect on the good that came from the year 2020. It wasn't what anyone had hoped for last year, but we are lucky to know things can be different in the year ahead.
Wishing everyone health and happiness this season and always!
Best,
Theresa Solomon

Winter iReady Diagnostic Reports
The i-Ready Winter Diagnostic Reports for both Math and Reading are being mailed home to parents the week of December 21, 2020. Included with these reports is a letter from Mr. Dave Chiszar, the Director of Assessment and Accountability, explaining the i-Ready diagnostic report and what is included in the documents. If you have any questions pertaining to i-Ready, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Dave Chiszar at David.chiszar@d303.org.
The document titled "How do I Interpret the Mid-year i-Ready Diagnostic Results Reports?" that is included in the mailing references a Green and Blue bar on the report. Your child's reports are copied in black and white, and therefore do not have green and blue for your reference. Here you will find a copy of the updated letter that instead references a "Mid On Grade Level Bar" instead of the Green bar and an "Up arrow" instead of a blue bar.
If you are missing data for your child, it may be because they didn't complete the assessment. These students will be finishing up the iReady after winter break.
D303 Has Job Openings!
D303 Has Job Openings!
It takes more adults to operate schools safely for students during the pandemic. District 303 currently has numerous job openings in a variety of job categories. If you are looking for temporary, part-time, or full-time employment, please visit the D303 Human Resources page to apply for a position.
One of the more flexible positions available is that of a D303 Substitute. You can choose to work, or not work, as your schedule permits. We are really in need of substitutes!
D303 has a Substitute Teacher's Handbook to show you the ins and outs of the job.
If after reading this, you are interested, please, reach out to Julie.Wenger@D303.org. Julie is our substitute coordinator. If you hold a Bachelor's degree, she can walk you through the process of applying for a substitute license with the state. This license affords you the opportunity to sub for teachers and teacher's assistants. If you hold a high school diploma or Associate's degree, you can apply for a Paraprofessional License. This license affords you the opportunity to sub for teacher's assistants.
After you get your license, you can apply to substitute teach in D303.
Click HERE for the application if you hold a Bachelor's degree and Substitute license.

#D303 Thankful Campaign
November marks a season of Thanksgiving. Even in the current pandemic, there is so much to be thankful for in District 303. Over the next couple of weeks, we want to invite you to join us in taking a moment to express appreciation to staff members who have gone above and beyond in their work to support your children and/or family this school year. There are three ways that you can contribute to our #D303Thankful Campaign.
Write a note of appreciation to a staff member. You may download a notecard template on our website or create a note of your own to share.
Participate in our social media campaign by sharing a picture or thought using the hashtag #D303Thankful.
Share a story, note of appreciation, or photo on Let’s Talk using the D303Thankful button.
All of us in District 303 value your partnership, and appreciate your continued support of our district and schools.
