COMMITMENT FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2021-2022
All currently enrolled 6th and 7th grade students at Phillips will be automatically recommitted for the next school year, as long as they meet the magnet school eligibility guidelines.
Elective course selection options for current 6th and 7th graders will be emailed to parents at the beginning of April. We will do our best to accommodate your elective requests, but final decisions will be based on enrollment and teacher availability.
Online registration begins April 12, 2021. Click the tab above to access the online registration portal. Click "RETURNING STUDENTS" if your child has attended school in MCPSS. Click "NEW STUDENTS" if your child has NEVER been enrolled in MCPSS.

LEARNING LEADING AWARD WINNER
Eighth grader Katie Bendolph has been selected as Phillips Preparatory’s Learning Leading Award Winner! Katie actively cultivates personal connections with her teachers and peers. She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and is involved in numerous community projects. Katie is an academically focused and socially conscious student. Congratulations Katie!
HUNTSVILLE SPACE ACADEMY
AL SCHOOL OF CYBER TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING
Three Phillips Prep eighth graders have been accepted into the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering in Huntsville. Sophie Santa-Cruz, Zamorah Morton, and Amie Conrey will accept their offers to attend the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering (ASCTE), the nation’s only high school focused on the integration of cyber technology and engineering into all academic disciplines. Their vision statement: "ASCTE envisions a team with common goals and mutual accountability for student achievement that will become a national model in collaboration with governmental agencies, industry, and higher education specializing in cyber engineering." ASCTE is a public, residential magnet high school serving students throughout the state of Alabama. Congratulations Pirates!
MOBILE MATH OLYMPIAD
Ms. McCants’ ELA classes recently completed their argumentative essays for third quarter. Students had the opportunity to evaluate their classmates’ essays and identify students whose reasoning and evidence were sufficient in supporting their claims. Take a look at the sample essay below!
SCHOLAR'S BOWL TRYOUTS
Scholar’s Bowl tryouts will be held on Wednesday, April 21st from 2:30 until 4:30. Tryouts are for the upcoming school year and are open to current 6th and 7th graders. Sign up sheets will be placed on both Mrs. Vickers’s and Ms. Walton’s doors. Virtual students wishing to tryout should contact Mrs. Vickers: firstname.lastname@example.org
2021-2022 CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS
2021-2022 Cheerleader Tryouts will take place April 28-30, 2021 after school. If you plan on trying out, you must have a current physical exam from a doctor. Please complete the required documents at dragonflymax.com.
